The proposed law.

Kind of annoying that the first hit on google leads me to a news article where it's in the comments that I find information on how to see the actual law. Is it that difficult for a news organization to link to public info?

Thanks, Peter.

To the forum at large:  I think I need help interpreting this, because it appears to me as though subsection b, paragraph 2 of the proposed text specifically says that this bill doesn't apply to miscarriages.  Is there something in all those amendments that changes that?  Or am I missing something else?  Huh

The first almost half of the bill, up until subsection b looks like political speech. Probably put there to raise court issues as soon as it goes to court.

Subsection B, paragraph 2 seems to put the onus on the police to prove she took one of the abortion drugs (RU-486?) or used other means to create a miscarriage.

SO did the woman unhappy about being pregnant fall down the stairs or throw herself down them, I think that's the question.

Oh, that I see.  I'm just wondering where the interpretation that this bill would make miscarriage a death-penalty offense comes from.

The bill's section 2.4 removes this:
http://law.justia.com/codes/georgia/2010/title-16/chapter-5/article-6/16-5-80/

That's killing of a fetus is illegal unless it's done with the consent of the woman or person able to act for her.

So, having an abortion would now be illegal, but the penalty is life in prison, not execution.
