Does anyone know anything about the worship of Divus Julius (AKA Julius Caesar) in Ancient Rome? All I can find is that he was at some point granted to status of Divus by the Senate, and that's it. Any help?

I'm afraid not. I've never seen anything more on it.

Besides the location of the temple in Rome, its asylum rights and the existence of a flamen since 40 BCE... there's not much more I can tell you.

From what I've learned the deification of emperors was a way of honoring and reinforcing loyalty to the imperial family.  Since the rule of Rome by an emperor was a new concept, deifying an emperor helped people to accept the new form of government.

Most Romans new the emperors weren't actual gods, but the act of sacrificing to the defied emperors proved your loyalty.
