Inspired by the Ogham project and my own desire to make personalized oracle cards, I started putting together my own list of symbols and meanings for a deck last night, that today in chat turned into a FlameKeeping specific oracle.

We have a Google doc with a list of symbols and meanings, but it is still in progress. I will be going through the list, writing up more complete descriptions and meanings for each card, and then sharing that work with whoever is interested for review.

The Google doc (a work in progress) is here: http://ow.ly/4vxMH
I'll be posting the full descriptions and meanings to my blog, and then updating here when something new is published.

If anyone is interested in designing FlameKeeping appropriate spreads, that would be super helpful! If you'd like to help in any other way, let me know!

Really cool. I'm excited to see this unfold!  Smiley

And I am very pleased that my thoughts were anticipated and there is a card for Yarn. But really? I shouldn't be surprised.  Roll Eyes

...that today in chat turned into a FlameKeeping specific oracle.

That was fun!  Grin

Things I'd suggest people look at is which cards should or may want to be combined, as "inverted" images.

For instance, we probably don't want "take your time, consider everything" and "hurry up and decide NOW" to be on different cards and both be drawn at the same time.

I suppose some of the cards won't want a "reverse", and they could be drawn symmetrically so they'd look the same either way.

BTW, if someone else is doing a collaborative project, the etherpad application titanpad.com is a good place to do it. You can make them public, or give a limited group of people passwords. It's opensource and free.  Smiley

What is FlameKeeping's persspective on oracles, divination, etc., where do these things fit within the FlameKeeping cosmology/theology? Basicly, why do they work? How do they work? What is their relationship to the Flames? JUst interested because it is important for an ongoing editing project that I have been trying to get back into (after long distraction).

My thoughts are that divination is a way to see into ones self. If I draw a card that says "you have work to do", I'll search my mind until I figure out what that work is. We already have the answers, the cards just ask the questions we didn't know to ask.

Also, I do believe that gods and spirits can speak through the cards, if they choose.

Not only that, but at least the long-term hope of the project for ME is that the cards can be ordered in a way to tell a story - and then that story would ALSO be something we could think about, work through, take a card at a time.

I don't believe in a set future, but I do believe in different ways of seeing the now and the possibilities it holds. Smiley

You know that there is something similar in Tarot?
It's called 'The Fool's Journey'.

The Fool being the significator is put on the side, then you draw 12 cards, not looking at them.
Then then Fool gets shuffled with the other cards and all spread out one besides the other.

The other cards tell of the topic you're at atm. The position of the Fool tells you about where you stand.
What is already done, what is still in front of you.
