We are considering moving from SMF to different forum software. Currently, we are considering MyBB.  I've set up a test version of MyBB and need people to create accounts, post and reply to messages (they don't have to be meaningful), and such so I can see what type of load MyBB puts on the server.

MyBB is a much more modern design -- coding-wise than SMF -- even the "upcoming" (someday) version 2 of SMF. For example, forum mods use hooks instead have having to be inserted into the code of the forum which makes things break less.

So, if you have some time, please go play with this test board:

http://cms.ecauldron.net/mybb/

Note: This is a fairly basic setup of MyBB. If we use it, it would be tweaked some to fit our needs just as SMF was.

I don't think so. I don't think I've ever heard of Blackboard.

I don't think so. I don't think I've ever heard of Blackboard.

The Blackboard I'm familiar with is for online educational use. That's what Ashford's online program used when I started with them.

That is the one I meant. I wasn't sure if they had a general forum version or not.

So it does not appear to have the "NEW" button next to unread threads that jumps to the new posts. That is a very handy feature of what we have now.

If you're looking at the list of new posts, any thread with a post in it you haven't read should have a green arrow at the front of the title. Clicking on that will bring you to the first unread post.

I hear a lot of students complain about it. It seems to break often.

Plus it would probably be completely not what we're looking for.  I can't imagine what a regular forum based on Blackboard would look like....

I thought that's the reason we had Dutch and German staff members?
