I should begin with the reason I did it in the first place.
It has been very stressful time for me for a while now and by the time I was making it, I seriously needed something to help me balance myself and my emotions. I know my own body rather well and tried eating fruit that usually helps, but this occasion it didn’t seem to work. I still had to study for exams and thus decided to use some outside help. Something that would give me peace, bring me balance, focus and emotional steadiness.

I crafted a spell for myself.

I work in nightshifts, and thus I felt I’d found the perfect time – waxing crescent shining over the early sunrise on a beautiful mid-spring morning. We are right in the middle of high water time too and the river is on my path to work.
For this I got:
• white tea candle (added essential oil on it earlier – lotus and fir mix)
• fresh birch twig (new beginning, to attract protection and purification)
• a coin that contains both silver and gold (old traditions here talk about giving an offering of silver if you ask the help of rivers).
• a single hair
• a needle to work the words into the coin.
The process was simple – first put the intentions in the coin, let it sit on Moon light (on the roof), light the candle on sunrise, work the words in the coin (need for focus, calm, peace, balance), add my mark, seal the single hair on it with wax from the candle, the birch twig the same way. Concentrate your thoughts and let the candle finish. Then on my way home, which wasn’t long after that – both the Sun and the Moon were still up – I gave the bundle to the river.

It worked. Beautifully, too well even.

The problem is, when I did it, thinking back on it, I think I was sincerely underlining the whole spell with the need for rest, both emotionally and physically. The results seem to confirm my suspicions, because I feel rested, emotionally normal and absolutely focused on anything else but work or studies. As much as I love this feeling, I believe the lack of focus on studies can pay me dearly, as I haven’t been able to memorize anything even after reading things willingly. Like my brain isn’t taking anything in.

I’m wondering if there is a way to change the “need for focus” part somehow? Channel it to being able to focus on my tasks better instead of focusing on inner peace so much (which isn’t bad either). Or perhaps I ought to try to create a separate spell for this?

I'd probably just do a separate spell. I've always found changing a spell in effect (other than to just stop it) harder than just doing a separate spell.
