Hey, guys.  Newbie crafter here.

So, erinnightwalker was kind enough to post a link to a wonderful site in this thread: http://www.ecauldron.net/forum/index.php?topic=15239.0, and I made the mistake of showing my friend, who is a huge DnD fan, the Shoulder Beholder on that site.  Me being the softy I am, I agreed to make it for him.

Now, I've managed to find ways to fix the drawback that I haven't a single clue how to crochet, that's not an issue.  But I need some serious help with the yarn.  The pattern(http://theanticraft.com/archive/imbolc08/beholder.htm) specifies "worsted weight yarn of any kind, but acrylic just adds to the horror of the Beholder".

Could someone help me define worsted, please, and give me some pointers on what to look for when buying said yarn?

Thanks, all,
Vella

What men are poets who can speak of Jupiter as if he is a man, but when he is a spinning ball of ammonia and methane must be silent?
