I read a book a while back and saw the movie last summer when it came out in theaters.  I really enjoyed the book, but that may have something to do with where I was in my own life at that time.  I could relate to Liz's struggles with dissatisfaction in her life and relationships, her yearning to become closer to divinity, and her love of travel.  Eat, Pray, Love is actually what gave me the push to defy my husband's initial disapproval of realizing my dream to see the world (and his family's dismay that I didn't want children).

The movie was OK.  They kept true to the core story, but it was given some extra Hollywood glamour that it could have done without, IMO.
