Greetings all,

I know this sounds a large request, but after receiving some truly excellent photographs of ritual implements from reconstructionist participants, I wanted to open this up to you all. Basically, I'm putting together some research images for the PhD. I realise that there are many items and sacred objects that you would not want poured over by prying academic eyes (I certainly don't expect pictures of open statues etc.), however, if you have any pictures of tools, figurinnes, jewelry, ritual clothing etc. that you would be happy including in the work then that would be wonderful.

Now, as it stands, you would retain rights on the pictures, and I would simply be using them with your permission for the purpose of the PhD piece itself. Any other types of use and I would have to seek your permission, and include details on useage. This isn't likely unless I publish the work, though I should note that an image supplied by participants will shortly be appearing in Archaeology International, with their permission, so sometimes this kind of thing does happen.

Again, I'm only asking for anything you might feel comfortable sharing with the world, be it items or even artwork of your deities, items made in Their honour, that kind of thing. If anybody is interested, please email me at paul.harrison@ucl.ac.uk, and we can discuss details and practicalities from there.

All the best, and thanks,

Paul

I should note that I will likely quote my own threads in my work. This does not mean I'll quote you from any other source. However, if you are uncomfortable with this please feel free to abstain, or alternatively pm me with a pseudonym for you that I can use in future work. Your privacy is important to me, and details can be found on my site http://profaneegyptologists.blogspot.com/. (I'll re quote this section with all the questions I plan to use this way).

I haven't participated in any of your questions to date, largely because I think I was still finding my footing/place as a kemetic when you were asking them. However I am happy to share pictures of the bronze Wepwawet statue I had made. It might be of particular interest to you as you have several examples of the same "type" in the Petrie Museum, although I believe they're on a smaller scale. I wish they were on display actually, I didn't see any of them out when I visited the collection for the first time last year.

I'll email you.

That sounds perfect, Nefersedt, many thanks!

Did you find the collection of deity statuettes hidden away in display cases on the stairwell? I think the first few times I went into the Petrie I had no idea they were back there, and the few tours I've led there tend to focus more on the history of Egyptology via Petrie than the statuary (though that gives me an idea for a possible tour in the summer, will keep you posted.)

Many thanks!

Paul

Mmm, I may not have. But I'm in London this weekend actually and might stop by the Petrie Museum on Saturday. If I do, I'll make sure to have a better look. Thanks for the pro-tip. Wink

I don't know if it would interest you, but I have two footed offering bowls that were made for me by another forum member here.  I'd be comfortable sharing photos of them.
