I saw a shirt on the Nirvana facebook page that had a picture of a shirt said 20 and the zero was the Nirvana happy face logo and under it said NEVERMIND.

I've liked Nirvana since I was a kid, since before Kurt died, and seeing this shirt saying the album Nevermind is 20 years old just makes me feel old now. I still listen to it, I don't think I'll ever stop, it's even on the classic rock station now.

So, what bands/albums/songs/etc make you feel old?

Or maybe a better question would be what music do you remember from your childhood that makes you think back on fond memories or not so fond memories?

Yesterday I watched a livestream of a Bon Jovi concert on the internet and realized that I've been a fan for 17 years now - I'm 25 years old... so that made me feel slightly old  Wink

Some songs by Elvis make me feel the same, because I've been listening to Elvis basically from the time I was born. My mum is a huge fan of his, so we'd spend most mornings listening to his songs on a cassette player, sometimes even before breakfast. There's "Blue Hawaii", from the film with the same name. When I listened to it a couple days ago I realized that my mum was probably even younger than I am now when that song was released, and still neither of us has been to Hawaii... time really flies, and there are some wishes that really need to be fulfilled soon.

Hahahaha, I just read a few days ago an article in GQ about Nirvana.  It prompted me to dig through my belongings, and I still have a cassette tape of "In Utero" which is one of the first albums I ever purchased!

So, like you, yep, it's Nirvana that makes me feel old.   Cheesy

It's interesting to see that you lot reference Nirvana so much ... Nirvana completely passed me by without me so much as even noticing them  Wink

No music makes me feel old by itself - its the radio that does it.  Hearing bands I grew up with on the classic rock station.   I think realizing U2 and The Police are now classic rock gave me arthritis.

20 years already?! Wow.

As music goes, house. Mainstream house/dance even (Scatman, MC Hammer ) Because we looked down on it as music for kids, we were way to mature for that... and now it's played on the nostalgics.

Considering I watched the Beatles debut on "The Ed Sullivan Show" when I was 6, there's quite a bit of music that can "make (me) feel old" if I let it. :-)

Rather than that, however, I often have flashes of where I was or who I was with when a certain song comes on. I most often listen to classic rock with the occasional forays into hip-hop (!!! I'm 53 and white, deal with it) and classical, so every now and then something occurs to me. "Wow--I was with my ex-fiance driving to Chicago when I first heard this." "Hey, that was popular when I was a senior in high school (1975)." "Whoa--we used to blast that one from the speakers, set in the dorm room window and turned outward to face the back lawn (Boston's first LP)."

"Feel old" not so much. "Remember when/where/who"--often.

And then I think about Mick Jagger and how old he is, and how he can still run around a stage.

God my bones hurt. LOL

I am going to echo many people here when I say that I first felt old when I heard Nirvana on a classic rock station.

I grew up listening to everything from the '30s forward.  I didn't start feeling old til Iggy Pop started doing insurance commercials.
