That's strange, I've never listened to a song that I've liked in the past and thought that it really sucked to begin with. I've done the opposite, listened to a song I thought sucked when I was a kid, but now I like it.

Less strange if you knew some of the stuff I used to listen to. Smiley. Don't get me wrong most of the stuff I still enjoy today and my wee ones favourite cd at the moment is Offspring's Americana but Custard- just not my thing anymore.

Home Improvement?...on Nick at Nite?  (hasn't watched that channel in about a decade)

Which direction is the old folks' corner?  And where I can I get a cane to smack these young whipper-snappers with?

Along with George Lopez. Its presence I just chalk up to Nick not having any money or something and wanting more reruns.  Tongue

Or t.v. nowadays just sucks...like seriously, I only watch new episodes of NCIS and occasionally Grey's Anatomy, but mostly I watch reruns because there is NOTHING else on.

Now, I remember Nick at Nite as being the shows my parents grew up with and them having a sense of nostalgia when watching it with me.  Although since I'm now about the age my mother was when she had me, it kind of makes since that they would now be showing shows that I saw brand new as a child.

I don't watch TV at all.

I don't watch much TV, mostly limited to NCIS, Criminal Minds, and Hockey Night in Canada.

Generally, I feel old whenever I hear retrospectives of the 90s. They make it sound like it was a lifetime ago, while I have memories of most of the artists mentioned in the second half of the decade (if childishly vague).
That's where I get to feeling old - not the music, but when people are being all retro-squee about it.  Specifically, when people who weren't around at the time are retro-squeeing about what some marketer is telling them about it, and won't believe me when I tell them that - f'ex, and yeah, my f'ex is kind of elderly itself - no, ABBA weren't disco artists, they just had a few songs that were disco-esque.  (Or, to go even earlier but this one isn't about music, that just because beehive hairdos and hot pants are both associated with the '60s doesn't mean they were in fashion at the same time.)

That's when I get all, "That's my lawn you're tromping on, kid; get the hell off it!"

Though I mostly find it hilarious now, rather than annoying - like the recursiveness of being nostalgic for the '50s nostalgia of the '70s.

And today on the radio I heard Pearl Jam called "vintage."
Is that anything like, "On the road today, I saw a Deadhead sticker on a Cadillac"?

On the flip side, it drives me nuts when I'm listening to the Beatles in my office, and my office-mate is amazed that I'm listening to "music that's older than you are!"  Roll Eyes

Um, yeah, about 85% of the music I listen to is older than I am. (Beethoven, Mozart, Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, to name a few.) Wonder what she'd say if I had an ABBA cd playing......

I actually forget which song it was, but I remember it being Pearl Jam.
