The Cauldron's server is expensive and requires monthly payments. Please become a Bronze, Silver or Gold Donor if you can. Donations are needed every month. Without member support, we can't afford the server.

The point of my post (and I do have one) is I don't see that any of the forums here are subscriber only.
Would that be an option? Can you/we think of anything here now or that could be added that would encourage members to willingly help shoulder the load for a stronger faster forum?

While I'm not intrinsically against the idea, I really can't think of any "good stuff" we could put behind a subscriber-only pay wall. I don't know if that's because we don't have anything like that or if it is because my mind just doesn't think that way. I'm certainly open to suggestions.  However, we have a small group of donor members who have managed to pay the server bills every month and other odds expenses like the new vBulletin license and the Vaultwiki license when needed. Of course, switching to vbulletin might mean we might eventually need a better server as vB is certainly more server intensive than SMF -- but I don't expect that to be an immediate need given we have a Linode 1536 VPS.
