Does anyone else believe in them?

I don't know much about them yet but I do believe they have energy in them. I've done symbolic rituals with a paper voodoo doll one time. It was completely done in my own intuition, I do not say that I know anything about voodooism. The ritual was about letting go of someone that I loved but could never have. NOT hurting them. I do not believe in doing spells or rituals of hurting someone.

I just purchased a voodoo loa doll made by an "authentic" (quotes because I'm not sure LOL.) voodoo shop that is located in New Orleans. They claim that they hand-make them on order & bless them according to the description of the problem that you have. My problem consisted of warding off evil spirits. It's personal so I can't explain on here.

Anyone else have any or make them themselves?

I've had good results from poppets, but I can't really comment on voudun-specific poppet practices as I've not had any experience with them.

Like Sleepy Red Girl  I would use a poppet as well. Easy to make and as simple or as complex as you want. They seem to occur in many different witchcraft traditions.

There is a nice picture of one here http://www.museumofwitchcraft.com/tour_mow.php?num=2. The witch put a lot of time and effort into this one.

They are a fairly "obvious" symbolic representation of the target and so occur in many different forms of magic around the world. The Vodoun version is probably just the best known amongst the general public in the US.

and I hope ,O.P.,that you don't get the misconception that all poppet/voudou dolls are just for nefarious things. they can be for positive things too.
