One spark in darkness,

creation ignites!

Exploding forth

from single cells

into endless diversity.

Once,

huddled round

my protective light,

entwined communities

still employ me in their sacred rites.

Awareness kindles

uncoiling from within

like a snake on

the first day of Spring.

Illumination flickers

down the long passage of history,

and passions consume

within my ardent ring.

I might spread my arms

and hold back the fearful night;

Cook your meals,

inspire,

forge souls and swords,

offer warmth,

protection and comfort.

Or, roaring in savage delight

devour all you hold dear,

devastate, cauterize and incite.

Children,

which of my examples

will you choose to heed?

Creation or destruction?

Illumination,

or mindless consumption?

Generosity or greed?

~ Each of my singing poems is inspired by a Teacher found in Nature; a star, stone, tree, animal or element found in Nature that holds lessons of Wisdom for each of us. Can you guess who is singing in this brand new poem?

Each singing poem is a wonderful and fulfilling experience from start to finish. I always learn so much through the whole process, each one is truly an amazing journey. I look forward to writing the informative bit that comes after the poems too. Fire was definitely the most challenging of the elements for me thus far, and writing on Nature Teachers like Fire or Water is so very different from a Plant or Animal Teacher. Endlessly fascinating though!
