So tell us about your avatar!

Mine is a pic of me playing at Culture House DOM, Moscow, Russia on March 2006. I think is a good picture of me, doing what I love doing - making music.

So tell us about your avatar!

I love my avatar. Smiley

Years ago, when I was the newsletter editor of my former department, I wound up on such a clip-art kick, it wasn't even funny.  Okay, maybe a little bit funny.  I put clip art on EVERYTHING.  I was doing my internship portfolio at that time, and I put clip art in there, too.  Microsoft's Clip Art Gallery has the best collection, plus it's easiest to use, and I loved spending time browsing through their collections.

That's when I found this one collection of cartoon children dressed in costumes and doing activities.  They were adorable!!

So... I downloaded them all, and began to customize my favorites to look just like me!  If I were a Microsoft Clip Art gallery cartoon kid dressed up in costume, that is.

I have more as my user pics over at LiveJournal.

I choose to use the Kid Gypsy as my avatar for the pagany forums, keeping to the "theme", as it were.

There's not really a lot to tell. It's a reduced version of my sig image from the old board. It's an ancient Greek coin with an owl image (for Athena).

I just have to tell this story about that coin...

I was an honor student in college, which, at my university was like being adopted by a second family. We all knew each other pretty well and spent a lot of time together hanging out in the honor's college office and lounge. During my senior year, close to graduation, I was loitering about in the office with a couple friends while the Dean was showing off the shiny new medallions we would be getting at the honor's commencement ceremony to wear at graduation.

He had been bragging all year that the image on the medallion would be the most symbolic the college had ever used and that he was going to challenge the graduating students to figure it out. The dean was fond of philosophy and one of the girls with me had taken his philosophy class, so of course she was eager to take a shot at interpreting the design. We knew we wouldn't be able to fully appreciate it until we could see the latin phrase on the back, but getting a peak at the image was a head start. The image was of an old coin, and both of us recognized it immediately.

After we left my friend, who had noticed my smile when I saw the medallion, asked me excitedly "Do you know where that coin image is from?"

I responded equally excitedly "Yeah, it's from Randall's sig!"

My friend promptly walloped me with her notebook. Needless to say, that was not the correct answer.  Grin

Mine is a picture of my poodle, Heidi.  Her hair is just growing out after the retriever trim that I gave her for the summer.  She's actually looking up at me and my sister is taking the picture.

As for my Avatar, the image is of my patron, Set. Blue is my favorite color and the flowers in the background are just for prettyness.  Cheesy

Lykaios made mine for me (Thanks again!!!). It is of Yinepu, my Beloved. I am His in every sense of the word. He has been with me since I was a small child, and when I finally found my way down a pagan type path, Yinepu was there awaiting me. Now, year later, no matter which deities I spend time with, speak to, pray to (including Dad - Set) , Yinepu is first in my heart. And always will be.

So tell us about your avatar!

It's a self-portrait.  In pencil.

Okay, it snot. Wink

December 1998, I received in the mail a Canon AE-1 from my late uncle's estate.  Picking up two rolls of black and white film, I began shooting.  What you see is an excerpt from a photo of Eminent, one of my charges at the time, being ridden by an Olympic medalist (trainer).  She even used the full pic on her homepage for some years.

You can see the full pic here.

The image in my avatar is an ostrich feather - a symbol of the Goddes Ma'at, who is important to me. the color red as a background was technically a coincidence - Lykaios picked it when I badgered people into making me an avatar. It fits though, as a reference to Sekhmet, another deity who is important to me, and who has close connections to the concept of ma'at.

ROFL -- literally. This story just made my morning and probably my whole weekend.

A lot of full members have personalized avatars: some are photos, some are illustrations, some are typography or calligraphy; some are self-portraits, some are animals, some are abstract designs; some are totems or carry other spiritual meaning, others may not. All, if they're personalized, say something about you.

So tell us about your avatar!

My avatar is of the Goddess Aset.  The flower is there because it is pretty and Aset likes flowers.  Blue fit because A) blue is an awesome color and B) one of Aset's "main" colors is blue.  My name means "Daughter of Aset" which describes my relationship to Her.

Thank you Lykaios for making both avatar and sig images for me.

Nah, probably not.  That just doesn't feel quite right, though I'm hard-pressed to articulate the specifics of that feeling.

I would guess that it's because Natalie isn't devoted to Apollo and you don't want to make that decision for her?

That has something to do with it, yeah.  It's not entirely all of it, somehow, but it involves that.  Smiley
