The Cauldron's server is expensive and requires monthly payments. Please become a Bronze, Silver or Gold Donor if you can. Donations are needed every month. Without member support, we can't afford the server.

This message board is set to require you to respond to an email to activate your account. This is a major pain for some people who like to use free mail addresses which often block lots of legitimate email as spam but it prevents people from signing up with false email addresses (as trolls and spammers like to do) so it will remain. You will have to find an email address that works -- it is not our duty to make this process work with any address you want to use.

Here is some advice that may help you. Please read and follow it before asking for help.

1) Use an email address that you pay money for. If you have a good ISP or Web Hosting company that you are paying money to, they are far more likely to see that you get your email than some free mail provider is.

2) For obvious reasons, do not use an email address where you have server-side spam filtering that automatically deletes messages it decides are spam. For equally obvious reasons, do not use an email address that has some type of challenge system that requires a response for the sender for an email to get through.

3) Your email address must be able receive email from and (INCLUDING subdomains of these addresses). email is sent through Dreamhost servers. If your mail server blocks email, you will not get you activation email. If your mail server blocks (or all dreamhost hosted addresses), you will not receive any replies to any requests for activation help.

4) If your activation email does not show up in your inbox within 30 to 60 minutes (assuming this message board is up and you are getting other emails soon after they are sent), check your Junk mail folder AND any other mail folders you have (in case one of your rules moved it to a folder where you are not expecting it). Check carefully. Yes, this means that you need to look at every item of new mail in your folders (including the hundreds or thousands of emails that may be in your Junk email folder).  You will need to do this each time you are expecting an activation email. If you can't find it, use the board to send another activation email. You can request a new activation email and/or change your email address via the "Did you miss your activation email?" link in the login area.

5) If you still do not see an activation email (and the board is up and you are receiving other email at that address soon after it is sent), it may be time to select a different email address ON A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MAIL SERVER and try that one. Note: if you have several different email addresses at one place (your ISP, your web hosting company, or a free mail provider) chances are all email addresses at that one place use the same mail server and will have the same email problems.

6) As a last resort (after trying ALL the above), email activate000 AT cms DOT ecauldron DOT com from the email account you signed up with and carefully explain your problem (including your account username). Note: my reply will come from a cms DOT ecauldron DOT com address: if your server does not accept email this address, you will not get a reply and I will ignore further emails from you instead of wasting my time trying to reply to a server that has already indicated it has problems.  Note that the email address mentioned above should ONLY be used for activation problems and may change from time to time. Also note that I do not jump through challenge/response type hoops to respond to emails.

Question: I contacted my mail provider and they say that your email address is on their spam list and that you need to go though some procedure and/or pay them money to get it off so I can receive email from you.

Answer: Use a different email address on a different mail provider. Sorry, but we aren't being paid to jump through hoops so you can use an email provider that does not accept email from us.

Question: Can you recommend a free email provider that accepts mail from your accounts?

Answer: Google's Gmail seems to work for many people. No promises that it always will, however.

Question: I used a temporary time-limited anti-spam email address to sign up for my account and did not get the activation code before the temporary email account expired.

Answer: Using such accounts for the email address associated with your account violates our rules requiring your account to have a working email address at which we can contact you. Change it to a real email address.
