« Topic Start: July 13, 2007, 07:06:17 am »

Back in December 2003, when I was sitting at a desk in a tent in the desert, my friend in Maine was having a tough time with frozen septic, a truck on the blink and one of her mares had died that year.  So, seeing that I had an actual income for once in my life, I decided do to something nice with it.  I offered to buy a season - that is, to lease a mare for a year and a half, and the foal would be mine.

She thought I was joking at first, but we agreed and she sent a contract, blah blah.  Then I just happened to stumble across the website for this stallion.  I dropped an email and found I could afford the breeding, and suggested it to my friend, who drooled as much as I did.

Then it took two and a half years to get the mare pregnant!  Cheesy  But this morning, when I opened my email, this is who was waiting for me:

She will be black and white, like her daddy.

She is so exactly like I imagined her.

I am so crying on and off this morning.  Grin

What Sine said - more pics!  When you have 'em, of course - I know you'll have to wait for them (with barely-contained impatience, no doubt) yourself.

I really enjoyed the foal pics you posted from the farm, but this little girl is special.

But this morning, when I opened my email, this is who was waiting for me:

She's beautiful, WarHorse!  If she doesn't have a name yet, might I humbly suggest WarHorse's DreamSmiley

I'll add my request for more pix of her, too!

Congrats, Daddy. {{{{WarHorse}}}}

WarHorse, you're a DADDY!  Congratulations!

She's so beautiful.  I can't wait to see her grow up through the pictures you're going to be posting.

Nico is a stunner; I can see why you chose him!  Your darling is a darling; how could you not get emotional?!?!?!

Tell us about mom, too, and send more pix!!!

Why is it that when I come back to this board (as opposed to the horsey one) I get all emotional again? Smiley

Your wish is my command - she ventured out into the world today: http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y6/pintopiaffe/InnisFaeth%20Filly%20071307/?action=view&current=P1020056.jpg

Thirteen photos in all.

Mom is 1/2 Polish Arabian, 1/2 American Saddlebred.  Daddy is 1/2 Friesian and 1/2 Dutch Warmblood.  Dotter is 4 1/4s of each. Grin

We are focusing on a name that starts with "I," in tradition with the farm.  One of my dearest horsey friends saw a majestic mythical creature when she looked at the original pic, and suggested a name that reflects it.  I will be working with the stallion's connections and the breeder to come up with a good registered name.

Her barn name is "Vibrant," given that the breeder used that word to describe her just after delivery.

Vibrant.

My little goddess.

I don't know what to do with myself! Cheesy  Other than change my avatar...

Hugs and love,
WarHorse

My little goddess.

She's breathtaking!

Will she live with you when she's old enough?  Have you started saving for college yet?

War, I'm sorry but I must ask you to remove your pic as it's too big. I don't know the ins and outs of it completely (perhaps Oce or Star can weigh in on dimensions of it) but I do know it's causing serious scrolling issues.

Thanks.
