Then you got a good landlord and a good lease agreement. Smiley You lucked out (Or did your research).

It's been a long time since I've rented, but in all of the places I ever rented, the landlord wasn't allowed to enter unless it was an emergency.

Actually, I think the "lucking out" part comes of being born in the right country.

Sunflower, lucky Canucky

When my sister lived in Saskatoon she worked nights.  She gave notice to her landlord and he came over to show the apartment to a prospective tenant.  Having just got to sleep, she quoted the Ontario landlord-tenant regs at him and told him to go home and call for permission.  When he did she gave him an appointment two days laters out of sheer pissiness.

It wasn't until much later that she learned the Sask regs are different and giving notice automatically gave permission to show the apartment. Cheesy  (The landlord never argued - my sister is scary when she's sleep-deprived)

The problem is, there's what's *legal*, and there's what *happens*.

While that's true enough...Before we moved into this complex, the complex we were living in before was undergoing a ton of renovations. The head manager of the place told the construction crew they could enter the apartments at their will as necessary. The afternoon I had a construction crew come into my apartment while I was upstairs in the shower, I grabbed a copy of my lease and marched down to the office, and gave the staff who were there an earful - and made it perfectly clear if it happened again, they were going to be sued. After that, from then forward until we moved out, nobody came into my apartment without calling me first.

Good point. It's been a while, but I seem to remember the not entering being part of the lease. Of course, that doesn't mean that they didn't when we were out though.

Years ago, I remember a story on the radio about a landlord somewhere around here, walking into an apartment and the woman that lived there happened to be naked. Supposedly, she was suing, but I don't know if she ever did, or if she was successful.

See my last post. Wink

Thing was, this construction crew didn't even knock. They just CAME IN. What if something untoward had been going on in the living room?? ROFL :coughcough:

I live exactly in Kentucky.
I can't believe it... I had my Mari's mixed.  My apologies!  I'm usually quite careful about that; apparently I'm having a "stupid day" and am not aware of it (dangerous stuff, that).  Now I wonder if anything I've posted makes sense....
