These two items popped up on BBC tonight.  Both involve modern surgical techniques, so I put it in this folder.

A woman in Germany who has spent 55 years with part of a pencil inside her head has finally had it removed.

A Chinese woman has been relieved of 64 years of recurrent headaches after doctors removed a bullet that had been lodged in her head since World War II.

Just reading them makes my head hurt. Tongue

Hey!  Maybe THAT'S my problem -- there's a pencil stuck in my head!  My mom always told me not to stick things up my nose.  Now I know why.   Grin

Clumsy, I guess.

Margret Wegner fell over carrying the pencil when she was four. It punctured her cheek and part of it went into her brain, above the right eye.

When I was little, my mom kept telling me not to put things up my nose.  I have no idea why that was an issue for her -- maybe my older brother did something stupid.  Anyway, being contrary, I had to then put something up my nose.  I chose children's vitamins (Flintsone Vitamins, IIRC  Cheesy ).  I stuck them so far up my nose that they wouldn't come out, so I had to wait until they dissolved.  It was very painful.

I've never put anything up my nose ever again.   Wink

Thank all the gods I was sitting back from the monitor when I read that, because my reaction cleared out everything that was up my nose.
