I know nothing about Her at all, other than a little I read that tried very hard to fit her into the MMC role. I am very interested in Her! Does anyone have some resources for Aine? Any good books or websites? Any help at all would be appreciated!

Thank you!

Yeah, Aine, like most of the Celtic gods, really doesn't fit into the MMC format very well at all.

There's a number of different Aines (both male and female) in Irish legend and lore. Aine as goddess/sovreignity/fairy queen is most closely associated with Cnoc Aine (Knockainy) near Lough Gur in Limerick (as well as other sites in Londonderry and Waterford). There's folklore surrounding her and Maurice, Earl of Desmond and their son Gerard.

Other stories associate Aine with Manannan (as either daughter or wife), Ailill Aulomm, and the Eoganacht lineage.

Michael Dames' Mythic Ireland has a nice section on Munster that talks about Aine lore and associated sites. And Gearoid O Crualaoich's Book of the Cailleach has some Ana/Aine stories but you should be able to get the gist of some of the stories by googling for the names I mentioned above.

Thanks for the reply! I didn't figure that She fit well into the MMC format - it felt all wrong inside my head, if that makes any sense.  Tongue

I'll look up those resources that you mentioned - thanks so much! I did find some of the lore about Aine, Her husband and son - and I plan on continuing my search.  Smiley

I don't have anything to say to your main question, but I sure know how that "open house sign" feels!

Glad I could help. If you'd like some UPG, I use the <Hail to thee, thou Sun of the Seasons poem from the Carmina Gadelica to honour Aine.

Also, a salutation prayer:

Hail to thee, Lady of the Hill
Hail to thee, Daughter of the Sea
Hail to thee, Queen of Radiant Glory
Hail to thee, Beateous Aine Cli

Aine of the summer's warmth
Be with us, and grant thy aid
Aine of the bright cloak,
Be with us, and grant thy blessing
Aine of the surest step
Be with us, and guide our footsteps
Aine of the best heart,
Be with us, and grant us joy

Lady of Light, we praise thee,
Lady of Light, we glorify thee,
Lady of Light, we hail thee,
Beauteous Aine Cli

And a lorica-style prayer:

We will wash our faces
In the nine rays of the sun
In the sunwoven cloak of the Lady of Light
 We will find peace

We will be blessed in our rising up
 And in our lying down
We will be blessed in our waking
 And in our sleeping
We will be blessed in our coming in
 And in our going out
 Light before us
 Light behind us
 Light above us
 Light below us
 Light within us
 Light without
Bright about us shall ever be
 the cloak of Aine Cli
