Just wondering if anyone has any music they particularly like.  In my family music has always been a form of expression, if you can't say it you play it, lol.  (again, please move if I'm in the wrong bit!)

At the moment I am in to Jocelyn Pook (feat Chuscales).  I think she is (they are) amazing.  My Mum went to see her live not too long ago and said it was a really emotional and spiritual event.

What does anybody else have?

Neme.

Contemporary:
Tori Amos: Dear Gods she is amazing.  More than I can ever describe.  I get to see her November 24th.

Bjork:All I can say is, Who can outdo her in eclectic music?
Sarah Mclachlan: Beautiful, soothing, and her lyrics are pure poetry.

Classical:
Brahms
Bach
Stravinsky
Debussy
Satie
Orff
Mozart

Other:
I listen to cultural music, from traditional Eastern European, to native american trance stuff.

Oh no. You asked the Evil Question. Cheesy  Music means a lot to me, and I have a ridiculous number of bands/artists that I love.

A very, very small selection of a few contemporary artists/bands that mean a lot to me, in no particular order:

Tori Amos, The Ark (Swedish glam rock band), David Bowie, Ani DiFranco, Placebo, Tegan and Sara, Vienna Teng, Feist, Elliot Smith, the Dandy Warhols, Patti Smith, Neko Case, Gavin Friday/the Virgin Prunes, Thea Gilmore, Imogen Heap/Frou Frou, Damien Rice, PJ Harvey, U2, Rufus Wainwright, Tom Waits, Our Lady Peace, Leonard Cohen, the Magnetic Fields, Jeff Buckley

Believe me - I could go on for pages. It's a little embarrassing, heh. (And that's not even including musicals, instrumentalists, classical composers...)

I love all kinds of music, but if I had to pick one favorite it would be Bad Religion.

Neme.

Okay, my utter fave of all time (which severely dates me LOL) is Harry Chapin's Cats in the Cradle.  I was a teenager when I first heard it, although it had been out for a while then.

I also like Howie Day, particularly his song Collide.  Black Jack Davy by the Original Carter Family (actually it was a folk song they sang and put on an album, it is actually about 200 or more years old!)

I like my Native American flute music, my Celtic Wonder cd.  Heck, I even own a cd of Scottish bagpipe music!

I like instrumentals, classical, and easy listening in general.

And of course, I will forever be haunted by House of the Rising Sun, and Delta Dawn (can we say perpetual ear worms?  Cheesy )

Yep, dramatic music with tons of emotion.  And they definitely know how to do a better crescendo! Grin

I'm glad we played their pieces in marching band (Stravinsky's Firebird Suite and Dvorak's New World Symphony), it made me fall in love with them all over again.

You did them for marching band?  So no strings??
That's blasphemy!
Gah, you marching bands.  -shakes head-
I'm a violinist, so I'm a bit biased.
I think what draws me more to the eastern european composers is that their ballets and operas center around eastern european mythology, especially in stravinsky's case.

O.O I almost became a violinist.  But I ended up in band so I wouldn't have to take PE during high school.

Call me shallow or whatever, but I have no motivation to run when people tell me to and forget wearing the PE uniform it was about as modest as a Hooters uniform. Undecided
