Oh no. You asked the Evil Question.   Music means a lot to me, and I have a ridiculous number of bands/artists that I love.

A very, very small selection of a few contemporary artists/bands that mean a lot to me, in no particular order:

Tori Amos, The Ark (Swedish glam rock band), David Bowie, Ani DiFranco, Placebo, Tegan and Sara, Vienna Teng, Feist, Elliot Smith, the Dandy Warhols, Patti Smith, Neko Case, Gavin Friday/the Virgin Prunes, Thea Gilmore, Imogen Heap/Frou Frou, Damien Rice, PJ Harvey, U2, Rufus Wainwright, Tom Waits, Our Lady Peace, Leonard Cohen, the Magnetic Fields, Jeff Buckley

Believe me - I could go on for pages. It's a little embarrassing, heh. (And that's not even including musicals, instrumentalists, classical composers...)
