Oh, I was under the impression that you were attempting to create a different religious tradition. A thread on page two discussed the foundations and core beliefs and I assumed that's what you're doing. I apologize.

Well, honestly, I don't think we were ever totally clear on it, so I understand your confusion.  That thread, IIRC, was meant to try to figure out if we all -- meaning those of us here on TC choosing to participate in this SIG -- had core beliefs in common.

Unlike the Greek, Roman, and Egyptian societies, in which much was written about religious practices -- and that writing survives -- the Celts were mostly non-literate, relying on oral teaching and memory.  Virtually everything we do know about their religious practices comes from people who were outside the society (traders, conquerors, etc.) who commented on their practices, or on what little can be gleaned from the archeological record.

This makes being a strict Celtic recon extremely difficult, as so much is unknown about what rites existed, f'ex, and how they were carried out.

My Celt is very much of the opinion that strict reconstruction in a Celtic framework is simply impossible, so when I was talking to him about my sort of Kemetic neo-reconstruction he decided he was a neo-reconstructionist too.  (My usage of that term is basically the 'take the known principles and build something that works' attitude, though I am actually fairly conservative in my definitions of what works aside from a few things that I think are just b0rken; where strict reconstruction frequently comes across to me as 'make the people work with the old systems'.)

Heck, I've been baffled for months about why y'all were trying to agree on a name, as if you were all supposed to be doing the same thing. Wink

Yeah, I think that was a tangent that was fun but unnecessary.

Although I do think the process of *thinking* about a name did help some people clarify their own thinking and beliefs a little bit.  I think (but don't really remember) that that thread is where the idea of "feral" spirituality comes from, which really resonates with me, personally.

You'll notice we never decided on anything -- probably because we don't really need to.   Wink

Yeah, cuz I'm SO wild.  Just ask my daughters.   Tongue

The blue thing, however, has turned into a REAL thing.  Almost everyting I wear is blue, including the crystals I'm using for my experimental walking crystal grid -- blue chalcedony, angelite, kyanite, celestite, dumortierite, azurite, rainbow moonstone, and larimar.  And the ones that aren't blue are in the same "cool" color family -- amethyst, moldavite, clear danburite, selenite (white), and petalite (clear).  The only exception is the one piece of sunstone I just seem to need for balance (and to honor Brighid).

All thanks to you.   Cheesy

It's a wonderful thing to be able to embarrass your daughters with wildness strength and independence Wink

Oh, I embarass them alright.  But not necessarily with my...ahem...strength and independence.  I embarass them simply because I'm their mother and that's my job.   Tongue

Me? I did nothing except possibly invite you into my insanity.

Well, it *was* an engraved invitation -- more like a command performance, considering you were really just the messenger.  Not to minimize youre messengering -- just that I think you told me what you were *supposed* to tell me.  And I actually managed to understand it, at least to a certan degree.

And we're all a little insane, anyway, so who's counting?  Wink

Seems to be a theme cos you aren't the only one..... (don't ask! lol) As long you understood it, that's all that matters. You know I felt like a complete loon passing it on to you Wink
