(If anyone considers this belongs on the other religion board feel free to move it)

What would you consider the basic principles? beliefs? tenets? that define a Wiccan (generic - nothing Trad specific or the like).... What would you consider the important bulletin points, so to speak?

F'ex... Following the Rede, the Law of Return....

I say generic because I'm looking at dealing with non pagans who have a basic idea of what Wicca is, and what I'm trying to do is get my head around what might constitute a simple list/guide to basic Wiccan principle so that I can make comparisons and differentiate between wiccan adn not wiccan (and hopefully educate them a little) for a discussion that I've been putting off for far too long. And I guess I just don't want to miss anything important out.

(I'm not looking to set any kind of standard list - just looking for a list I, personally, can use)

Wherever that archive page of interesting old-board threads went off to, there's a thread on this subject listed there..  *roots around*  Ah-ha.  Here:
http://forums.delphiforums.com/CUSTOM7999/messages?msg=10954.1

You should be able to view that as a guest, I think, without having to register for Delphi.  It's "only" 115 posts long, so not so bad as some of the other threads we point people to on that page...

The page in question, if you or anyone else are interested:

I think that's actually longer than the record. IIRC, the record is a little over an hour, though I could be misremembering.

I think he got mentioned in the thread about wierd stuff from the past, so it's somewhere on the basic board.

Not for SPAM.  Record for non-spam is 1 hour 1 minute, but we've caught SPAM awfully quickly in the past sometimes.

I'm glad you mentioned that because I thought about it right as I was shutting down last night. I know I've caught spammers within a couple of minutes before when I was here while they were posting.

I too chased the link and rather like the final definition, even though I no longer consider myself Wicca.

For convenience, I'm going to post the conclusion on this thread.  What follows is the last definition on the linked thread.  It is in post #109, by Randall.

"Wicca is a nature-oriented (but not nature-worshipping) Pagan religion which originated in the mid-20th century, incorporating elements of traditional witchcraft (folk magic) and the teachings of Gerald Gardner. In its original form, which is still practiced, Wicca is an oathbound fertility religion which reveres both male and female deities and whose mysteries (truths that can only be communicated by direct experience) are transmitted by initiation. Over time numerous variations on the original form, including individual or "solitary" practice, have evolved."
