Hmmmmm.  I'm wondering if anyone at TC (besides me  Wink ) would be interested in working on a parallel Celtic track...?

I was hoping someone with more knowledge than myself would suggest that  Cheesy.  I really love the work with the cauldron cill and have been thinking( in what spare moments I have, lately) on how I can bring more balance to things in a practical way. I believe that I would gain a lot from something like this.

I hope there is some interest from others.

Well, I doubt that I have more knowledge, but I'd like to work on this.

However, I'm not sure this should be a Cill project.  There are a lot of Cill members who would not consider themselves Celtic recons (I think).  There are probably several Cill members who would be interested, though.

Somewhere (I'm getting confused about the various threads) I suggested that Randall might include a Celtic thread within a Reformed Recon exploration board.

Quite frankly (and IMHO), people should be able to get into the religion without having to study like a scholar first. They should be able to learn more with time, of course -- but front-loading the learning as much as many recon religions do seems to be unnecessary.

I think so, too. Studying is always valuable, and there's something to be said for doing some of the hard work yourself. I like scholarship. However, it can be overwhelming; there's a lot of information out there, and trying to determine which sources are good and which are junk isn't easy when you're just starting out. And the most readily available sources aren't always the best. The attitude some recons have (though certainly not all) sometimes seems to be, "You have to read and understand all the information in these 40 basic texts before you can have any sort of meaningful interaction and relationship with the gods." That's off-putting.

Research is easier for me now that I have access to a decent university library (JSTOR has become my new best friend), but that really shouldn't be a requirement for entry into the religion.

I agree that this shouldn't be a Cill project. While I'm sure we'd have plenty of interested Keepers, the Cill is wonderfully unique in that it stands outside of individual paths without much (if any) conflict, and I'd like to keep it that way. Smiley

We could probably start a "Reformed Celtic Reconstructionism" thread somewhere for the time being, and Randall could move it to a different forum if he felt the need.

Exactly. One should be able to study to the depth one wants, but one should not need the equivalent of a college major in Hellenic Religion to get started.

Hmmmmm.  I'm wondering if anyone at TC (besides me  Wink ) would be interested in working on a parallel Celtic track...?

Maybe there would be some ways the Hellenic, Kemetic, and Celtic folks could all help each other in this process.

I know there are serveral Celtic recon groups, but the reformed recon idea is really intriguing.

Thoughts, anyone?

I'd be interested in contributing to that.
