On a test, I draw a special sigil I created and saw a tiny incantation, which I remember by heart. The purpose of it is to bring out the knowledge I have in the recesses of my mind so that I may answer a question that calls for such information.

Going by your description, it's not a prayer, it's quite straightforwardly a spell. But that has nothing to do with ethics.
I see no ethical problem at all; it's a spell
on yourself (so there's no question at all that the subject of it consents!), and it's not a substitute for doing the work, but a way to more effectively make use of the results of the work.
What made you wonder about its ethicality?
