I am feeling somewhat posty today, it seems.

I did another ritual to talk to the dragon (please see related OP, if you have a mind to, down yonder on this board). As some suggested, I asked it directly what it was here to teach me, and what I needed to do. Not getting into the whole big story of it all, but essentially the deal is, I have to get a lot better at using earth energy, and spend more time with that element and with my own power. As part of the original meditation, I was given a sigil (I guess...anyway, it is a symbol and it is a gateway) and I am wondering if anyone with experience with this could comment. It is a stairway, with short horizontal lines at the sides, and a spiral at the top (or bottom, depending on which way it is turned) It is to be used as a gateway, or a path, and I just was reading today that ladders and stairs are used as axis mundi in some shamanic traditions...anyone know anything about this? It is strong as heck, but I haven't used it yet...a little bit askeered, I guess....

I am reading this back and I see that it is clear as mud...sorry. What I really am asking is, if anyone knows anyting about stairs as axis mundi or sigils generally, please give me a shout,
thx

It seems very weird to me that no one here has anything at all to share about stairways as axis mundi. No one else has ever worked with sigils before, or been given one by a goddess at all? hm.
Maybe I am in the wrong place with this.

I'd say its an open invitation from one of your higher powers,a path of ascension and a new tier, level thing,

and as far as i know spirals represent the motion of the fabric of all things,
Don't quote me thou,personal experience.

I have no experience with this, but I wanted to comment how cool it is that your dragon is giving you this much.  I have two, that I know of.  They are there, they watch over me, but I have no communication with them as of yet.

Have you thought of following the stairs?  I don't know whether they are purely symbolic, or if they are there for you to literally ascend and see what is beyond?

It is all very intriguing though, and I would love to know if you take it any further.

ascend and see what is beyond?

I think first more thought needs to be given to whether they are stairs up or stairs down.  Descending typically is the path to deeper wisdom, whereas ascending might simply take one out of the vision completely.

On the other hand, ascending is often seen as attaining a more spiritual level, while descending would be 'coming back to Earth'.

I think I  might have hinted at my lack of appreciation for deep, significant, portentous creatures in Rose's other thread about this particular dragon.  I should add here my impatience with riddles on the path to enlightenment as well.  'Riddling confession brings but riddling shrift'.  (I know it's a little out of context, but it is one of my favourite lines.)

Very good point.  I didn't think of the ascending/descending aspects.  Like I said, no experience in this!

I have to say that personally I'm not sure I'd be happy with anything that couldn't give me a straight answer (certainly without explanation), but I guess I assume others are happy with that sort of thing.  Maybe I'm a little too cautious/new/burned to be too trusting of anything...  Or maybe it's right to be that way?

I did read the other thread, but I should go back and re-read it as my memory never serves me too well Roll Eyes  I shall do that tomorrow morning, when my head is more with it!

thanks dear, I appreciate this. I have found all this stuff to be extremely intense to go through alone IRL, and sharing questions about it here and getting no response was somewhat hurtful to me. So thank you for hearing me:)

I am feeling afraid to follow the stairs, but I will get over myself about that soon, I am sure. The dragon is a father guide. He is not a guardian, except in the sense that he had to test me to see if I was ready to go further with this. When I asked him what he was here to teach me, he said to me "What is your sword s name?" I told him, "Life" he said "use it as it is meant to be used". So I know what that means; stop doubting myself and cut through the bullshit. It is hard to do, though, at just this moment. But that is mostly how life (and my sword) works. Then he took me (I got to fly on his back...that was really good) all the way back through time and space to my first cave. It is different from any of my other sacred places in astral, and no one else can come in there but me and the Gods (except maybe one other person, but not sure about that, and will have to ask him, some time).

What I learned about the sigil is that is is a pathway to the center. It can go up or down, or any direction, depending on how I turn it and use it, but always it goes to the center. I think perhaps what I have experienced here is an attunement to the center. I have been attuned to the other directions and the elements, so I guess this one was needed, before I can really get anything else accomplished. I have made mandalas that came out with this theme, as well, and in fact when I saw the sigil the first time, the Wheel of Fortune came up for me along with it. IME, the best way to ride the wheel without getting all beat up is to get to the center, so I guess that is what this thing is for, to protect me on upcoming difficult, dark journeys. I am feeling pretty afraid of it, but also quite compelled to go further.

Not so much of an assumption, given the wording in your OP.  (he didn't say spiral stairs either, just spirals in general)
