And from I, Claudius, almost any line from Livia, played to perfection by Sian Phillips
Livia is my hero!

Quote
Tiberius: (Regarding Tiberius' son, Marcellus) Frankly, I wouldn't have thought you'd care whether he lived or died.
Livia: Oh I care very much whether he lives or dies.

Quote from: 300
Messenger: What makes this woman think she can speak among men?
Queen Gorgo: Because only Spartan women give birth to real men.
-----------------
Queen Gorgo: This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this. I am not your Queen.
-----------------
Queen Gorgo: Spartan!
King Leonidas: Yes, Milady?
Queen Gorgo: Come back with your shield, or on it.
King Leonidas: Yes, Milady.
-----------------
Messenger: This is blasphemy! This is madness!
King Leonidas: Madness...? THIS... IS... SPARTA!

Love that movie. ^_^

And from a webcomic:

Quote from: Looking For Group
Richard (after getting an axe through the skull): Good was shot a that. Toast. Hee hee hee hee hee hee.
-----------------------
Richard: Why settle for a new hand when it could be replaced with a magical relic imbued with untold power? Behold! The Handfork of Truth!
-----------------------
Villager: What level of hell spawned such a monster?
Richard: That's rather personal though I appreciate the interest.
----------------------
Richard: I. Like. To. Kill. Things. How is that not clear by now?

Quite an awesome webcomic, and even funnier if you play WoW. Cheesy

There is a stunning lack of Joss Whedon in this thread right now.

Angelus did a lot of speechifyin', but he also made some excellent points.

Quote
Passion, it lies in all of us, sleeping, waiting...And though unwanted, unbidden, it will stir, open its jaws and howl. It speaks to us, guides us. Passion rules us all, and we obey. What other choice do we have? Passion is the source of our finest moments. The joy of love. The clarity of hatred...and the ecstasy of grief. It hurts sometimes more than we can bear. If we could live without passion maybe we'd know some kind of peace, but we would be hollow, empty rooms shuttered and dank. Without passion we'd be truly dead.

Quote
Bottom line is, even if you see them coming, you're not ready for the big moments. No one asks for their life to change, not really. But it does. So, what are we, helpless? Puppets? Nah. The big moments are gonna come, you can't help that. It's what you do afterwards that count. That's when you find out who you are.

But this is more important than all of them:

Quote
Angelus: That's everything. No weapons, no friends, no hope. Take all that away and what's left?
Buffy: Me.

Tell me what lines have poked you in the eye, kicked you in the butt, or otherwise moved you.

since I am a dork...

Hedwig And The Angry Inch

Hedwig: Ladies and gentlemen, do you like the pelt? Be honest, because some *bitch* stopped me on the way in. "What poor and unfortunate creature had to die for you to wear that?"
[pause]
Hedwig: My Aunt Trudy, I replied. Walked away ladies and gentlemen, walked away!

Saved!

Mary: I'm having a girl.
Cassandra: [looking at Mary's ultrasound] Are you sure you're not having a seamonkey?

Josie And The Pussycats

Alexandra Cabot: That's Mr. Moviefone! How'd you get him on your CD?
[gasp]
Alexandra Cabot: You slept with him!

But I'm A Cheerleader
Megan: Your parents didn't stay long.
Graham: Well, I imagine it gets uncomfortable sitting that long with a stick up your ass.

Lilo And Stitch

Lilo: [creating voodoo dolls of her playmates] My friends need to be punished.

Cry Baby

Pepper: The first thing a Cry-Baby girl learns is our bazooms are our weapons.

I think I'll stop for now...

I've been trying very hard not to fill this thread with Whedon-isms, actually.  I'd pretty much post every Firefly script, especially the Chinese...  And then there's the Buffyverse...

But, in the spirit of moderation, and because Joss Whedon is, after all, our Master, a few favorites from Serenity:

Quote
Book:  Why when I talk about faith, do you always assume I'm talking about God?

Quote
The Operative: You're fighting a war you've already lost.
Mal: Yeah, well, I'm known for that.

Quote
The Operative: Are you willing to die for your beliefs?
Mal: I am...
[they draw. Mal fires first, and the Operative is forced to take cover]
Mal: 'Course, that ain't exactly plan A.

And this one just breaks my heart:
Quote
River: [seeing visions of dead bodies on Miranda] Run-tse duh shang-dee, ching dai-wuhtzo... make them stop! They're everywhere. Every city, every house, every room, they're all inside me. I can hear them and they're saying... NOTHING! GET OUT! Please, get them out! Wuo-shang mayer, maysheen byen shr-to. Please God, make me a stone.

I might do Firefly and Buffy later...

(BTW, fellow Whedonites: Y'all heard the news, right?  Dollhouse?  New TV series by Joss and Tim, starring - and co-produced by - Eliza Dushku?)

My favourite line from Hairspray is still "Link your pork is ready!".... I'm not sure what gets me about that line, i think it's John Travolta's voice when he says it.
