What does it mean when you dream about someone else's child?

Here is the gist:

Now, I've only ever seen this child twice in person - once just before her first birthday (in '01) and then again at Kroger back in the Spring. (this is the daughter of my SO, btw, if that helps any)

In the dream, the little girl and I were in Loyall (small town Kentucky) together. We stopped by the Loyall Texaco for potato wedges and chicken strips, which we took to my in-law's to eat. We had a great time sitting around their kitchen table - the four of us - just sitting there, talking and eating.

Now, I'm used to having weird dreams. In fact, a close friend swears I never need acid - I just need to close my eyes. LOL But this one has totally thrown me for a loop. Or maybe I just need more sleep. Any ideas?

Maybe your subconscious just thought you'd enjoy the chance to spend a little time with her?  A fair number of my dreams are "just for fun".

Other than that, Huh I'm stumped.

Well, in fact, I've been wanting, since some time back in the Spring, to get to know her better - wishing I did and sad that I can't.

What happens with me is if someone is thinking about me, I often dream of them. Maybe she or her family have been hoping to see you again and have been talking about you? Since you are with her in the dream, I think it is also a desire on your part to be with her as you said, but I think they are hoping to meet with you too.

Given that her father and I are extremely close, this makes sense! Cheesy Too, someone elsewhere posited, "Why were you in her dream?" which I loved. Smiley

Thanks, by the way! Most appreciated.

I think you have an explanation for your dream right there.

Thanks EverFool...That does make a lot of sense. Sometimes I'm just horrible for picking at things until they bleed. :/

I had another dream about her last night, although I don't remember it as clearly as the first one. Same premise, though. Lots of laughter.

Maybe you are visiting with her out of body Smiley
