You know, I’ve never had a problem with historical sites until I went to the Gettysburg battle field and even then I was perfectly fine on the field itself.

I sometimes get that feeling when I'm in Yorktown.

Yeah, place or area memory is a lot more common then you might expect. I personally (maybe wrong, maybe not) attribute all those ghost sightings of people walking down halls or whatever to place memory, imprints of things that happened previously.

Place memory can be really major as well. I read about some places in America where entire revolutionary war battles will replay themselves pretty often.

My grandmother's family when she was a kid, lived in a house with a hallway that had stairs leading up to the next floor.  They routinely heard the door open, and footsteps going down the hallway, that would then abruptly stop.  They later found out that a man who had previously lived in the house had been murdered at the foot of the stairs.  (shot to death).

Whether this was the man's spirit or a place memory I dont know.

And some other similar kinda places, like POW camps.

There's a museum here in the area, Maryhill Museum of Art, that I enjoy visiting. There are a couple places in it that feel "dead" to me (namely a bedroom and what was to have been Sam Hill's office, both on the main floor). However, there are also places in there that give me the creeps. Surprisingly, one of those rooms is on the main floor and is the Throne Room, where many of Queen Marie of Roumania's things are showcased.

Mind you, the room doesn't give me the creeps in a bad way but rather an "oh really" type way, yanno?

Sam Hill's Stonehenge is another interesting place here local (you can find the information for that on the above Maryhill Museum link).  I've been there once and it was quite the interesting experience! It's a war memorial to honor the dead of Klickitat County in WW1 and IME, the area there is quite electric and tingly.

I once got a similar feeling in a museum in New Orleans that I visited many years ago, which was a converted mansion.

Hello Again All,

I have an intresting question, is it possible for their to be spirits without any paranormal activity? I personally have "felt" all sorts of spirits in my home and room.

Feeling the presence of spirits has been very common for me. Actually seeing something tangible has only happened a couple of times. I am not sure if I am even feeling spirits as much as the emotions that might be residually present. I also used to feel the presence of my guardian angel all of the time when I was little.

I have also seen the results of spirits or forces in how things might play out. In other words, paranormal activity does not have to be defined as rattling doors . It can manifest by the behavior of others or how events occur. I see that constantly.

Reminds me of visiting a castle for an event, crowds of people, etc, and right out of the blue seeing a ghost - I knew nothing about the place when we visited it - the visit was a surprise decision and change of plans based on finding out the event was happening - but when I looked into it later, apparently she was a recorded ghost seen there.
