Is there a YMCA near you?  You get a few free sessions with membership with a trainer.

The YMCA actually never occurred to me!  Embarrassed  I always considered the YMCA to be an inner-city thing, and apparently completely forgot that we just moved to just north of a city!  There is a YMCA seven blocks straight down the street (I rarely go into the city, the traffic lights are mistimed and it takes over 15 minutes just to go one mile).

You're right, the rates are extremely reasonable, and they have interesting classes, and stay open long enough into the evenings for me to be able to go.  I may discuss this with the boyfriend and see if I cant talk him into being my workout buddy.  He's always complaining about how scrawny he is. I like not paying gobs of money to workout.  $70 a month here for the whole family to join up and use the facilities as much as we like.  Not a bad deal at all, since Aspen up the road is over $100 a month for ONE PERSON with no better facilities and no trainer sessions included.

I hear you; I am so totally *not* about paying a lot of money for the gym. The reason I’m still at the hellhole I work out in (a no-frills commercial gym located underground) is because it’s only $350 a year. By Manhattan standards, where gym memberships typically run from $1000 to $2500 a year, that’s a steal. Plus it’s only 8 blocks from where I live.

Y’know, we should all set fitness goals, and use this forum to offer each other support and advice, and to hold each other to the goals. (I seem to recall something like that going on for weight loss at the old Cauldron board.) I’m going to start a new thread just for that.
