Question:  How long should it take a post with a smallish pic attached to show up on the boards?  The text ones hit pretty quick, but.......

Answer?  One of those frustrating "It takes as long as it takes" answers?

I think I know what you're talking about but I'm not quite sure...Would you be so kind as to link me to the post in question?

Thanks!

Well... I would, but it hasn't appeared yet.  That's why I asked the question.  I started a new topic in Life, the Universe and Everything under Crafts, etc, with a brief description and a picture of a staff and posted it.  That was, however, almost an hour ago and it hasn't appeared yet.  I kept checking, cuz I wanted to make sure the pic came through okay, but....

Oh dear. I know what's going on.  That particular folder is available to full members only. I'm sorry.  Undecided

Here is the thread that tells how to become a full member.

::sigh::  Thanks.  Thought that since my notes say "Full Member/Newbie" it would work.  Cry
Guess I'll save it and try again later.

Thanks again,

My apologies. I missed the "full member" part of your information. *blush*

As soon as you hit post, your post should have showed up....unless one of the other staffers popped in and moved it elsewhere.  What was your thread title?  I'll go hunt for it.  Smiley

No prob. Smiley

Actually it was two different ones... both in Life, The Universe and Everything Else.  One was in Pets and was titled "My Baby" with a pic of my dog.  The other was in Crafts and was "Wanna See A Staff?"

Thanks for your help.  If ya can't find them, I'll just try again later.

This is something you're going to have to email Randall about. I checked your posts and neither of those showed up.

Sorry I can't be more help.

I'm bamboozled too. I don't think I've ever seen this problem before. Ghost, could you tell us exactly what steps you're taking when starting these threads with an image attached?  Not that it seems like it should be a problem on your end, since you obviously know how to start threads, but I'm just looking for anywhere to start getting a handle on what's going on.  Wink

They aren't there. Since I'm not on the board much because of real life, I'm going to go through the "post a new thrwead" steps just to make sure we are both taking about the same procedure:

1) Go the the Forum list view and select the board you want to start the thread in. (say Pets)

2) In the board list of messages screen, click on the "New Topic" button at the top or bottom of the list of threads on the board.

3) Fill in a Subject and the text of the post.  Press the Preview button to see how the message will appear. The preveiw will appear at the top.  Edit and preview until everything is right and you are happy with the message, then press the post button.  This should post the message (usually it is fast, but sometimes can take a while -- the message hasn't posted until the post screen goes away. If you click on "Forum" in the top menu, then select the forum again (Pets in this case), your new thread should be there -- one of the first ones in the list (on most boards).

4) Don't use the "shortcuts: hit alt+s to submit/post or alt+p to preview" shortcuts as they do not work reliably in all browsers.

If you are doing all of this, and new threads still aren't appearing, I really have no idea. Sad

Edit and preview until everything is right and you are happy with the message, then press the post button.

I forgot to mention that the preview part should show you if anything is wrong with your BBCode for the image you are trying to show.  If the image does not appear, you have a problem with either the BBCode or the web server you stored the image on.

...Except if you're attaching the image, there's no BBcode and it's not stored on another server, it's uploaded here.  Preview should still show you if it's attached correctly, though, I think.

I'm going to go post a test message to see if I can duplicate this problem...

Trust me to come up with a new problem.   Grin
I did it the same way as the text ones I've done.  Hit "New Topic" gave it a name, typed the message, etc, then hit "Additional Options" at the bottom.  Clicked on "Browse", found the picture file on my 'puter, double-checked the filename and clicked "Preview."  Looked okay.  Clicked "Post."  I waited for it to say it was done and went back to cruising the Forum.
