I'm not sure if this would be of interest to anyone here, but I thought I'd post it just in case; the CR community is planning a Samhain ritual to save Tara, a very sacred place in Ireland, from having a highway built through it. Information and the ritual itself are here for anyone who would like to participate.

I'm in. I'm not sure if I'm going to do it at home in my ritual room (which, being on the second floor, is almost like being on a hill) or if I'll try to go somewhere else. Some of the parks have nice areas, but they tend to close at dark. Times like this, I wish I lived out in the country where I could do stuff like this in my backyard. =P

Anyone else?

Anyone else?

Hmm... I'm not sure yet. I'm not a big ritual person. If My Lady prods me into doing it (which looks doubtful right now), then I'll do it.

I'm in -- although I'll definitely be adapting the ritual to my own solitary practice, the difficult timing on a work day, and the fact that we have a bit of a drought going on, so open bonfires are out.  I'm thinking our charcoal grill might work, though...

Oh, if I only had a cauldron to light a fire in...

*sigh*  I think I was wrong: I am being pushed to do this.  Tongue  Thing is, she wants my own ritual (which I've written but never done practically) and now she wants me to do this, but on a much smaller scale.

My husband and I performed the "I Sand with Tara" ritual last night too.  It was very beautiful.  I only hope we were able to help.

I thought the same thing- I performed it yesterday by myself. I felt very connected to a lot of power and a lot of hope. I can only hope we've done some good!

Did anyone else perform the ritual, or some variant thereof? How did it go, and how did you feel?

I did it myself, and I think it went well--there was definitely a great sense of connection and a great sense of hope.

The only snafu I really had was getting rid of my offerings: having no garden to set them out in or bury them in, I had to just throw them away. When I asked if it was okay, I got this sense of "hm... well... it's okay... for now."  I'll need to think about how I want to do better at offerings and... er... giving them out.  Undecided

When I have to throw out offerings in the trash, I usually wrap them carefully in several napkins or paper towels, and it's always seemed like enough.

I was really hoping to, but I've had a cold for the past week and just didn't feel up to performing serious ritual last night. I ended up vegging out on the couch with a book and a box of Kleenex. In fact, apart from going to my coven's Samhain ritual (because I was signed up to bring food for the potluck), and going to community band practice a couple days ago, I haven't done anything for a week but go to work. =P

Unfortunately, I did not get to perform the ritual in its entiretly; things didn't exactly go as planned that day. Instead, I incorporated the protection prayer to Birghid into the ritual I already had prepared.

I performed it by myself as well. I didn't have the space or tools necessary (no hill, no fire), so I visualized those elements while I recited the words (at least, as many of them as I could reasonably pronounce, heh).

The remarkable part of the experience was when I got to the bit that says, "The sacred center will be unharmed. She will not be bulldozed, she will not be shamed, she will not be desecrated..." As I spoke these words, my body began to shake and tremble with wrath...but it wasn't my wrath. It was Something Else. It wasn't me talking at that moment.

I've never had an experience like that before...I've never invoked or drawn down anything, and certainly not by accident. I don't know Who it might have been - I can hazard a guess that it might have been Brid/Brigit, since it's She who's called upon in the ritual. Though, Whoever it was, They certainly weren't feeling all "happy-shiny-light" at that moment!

Thessaly: It's time to draw down the moon.
Foxglove: We did this. Or something like this. We had water and salt, not blood. We invoked the goddess in her aspect as the moon. We called down her power...
Thessaly: Did she answer you?
Foxglove: Well, it felt good at the time. Empowering.
Thessaly: Hmph.
