I'm really proud of this batch and thought I'd share.  Anyone else doing hand-painting?  Share!

That's really pretty!!

I've never heard of hand-painting yarn before, but it sounds itneresting. What sort of colorant do you use?

I use acid dyes (they work on any kind of animal fiber--this yarn is 100% wool).  I buy mine from Dharma Trading, but food coloring and even Kool-Aid works too.  It's harder to get the jewel-tone color saturation with food coloring/Kool-Aid unless you use a lot of it, though.  Well, that, and some people don't like grape-scented wool.  Wink

It's a birthday present for a friend.  I dyed it to go along with a Black Phoenix fragrance I'm giving her called "The Death of Autumn".  Kind of a theme thing.  Wink

I can't wait to get started spinning.  I love the color blending you get with dyed roving.  Looking forward to making some Noro-like stuff.

Beautiful yarn Brina!  The colorway you chose reminds me of commercial yarns I've seen in stores.  Smiley

I was going for something like this, with a little more autumnal orange.
