The results are in for our third challenge (Fall Harvest), and it's a tie!  The winners are:

Kasmira

     and
Lykaios

Congratulations!  They're both lovely.  To view all of this months entries, have a look at the Challenge #3 poll.

Since Lykaios won the last challenge, we'll use Kasmira's theme for our next challenge: Winter Reflections.  Also, we will have an extended entry period this time around, since people will be busy with Thanksgiving.  I'll tentatively set the due date for December 11, as I can't guarantee I'll have good computer access during the holidays.  But if people are still finishing up then and it looks OK computerwise, we can extend it further.  We can have a longer voting period as well, which should carry us into the New Year.

Anyway, here are the rules:

Avatar Design Challenge Rules

 • Challenge begins today, October 23, 2007.  You do not have to "register" or otherwise state your intent to play, but it's nice if you do so so I can see what kind of response the theme is getting.

 • The challenge theme will be chosen by the winner of the previous round.  Lykaios and Kasmira won the last round, and Kasmira selected Winter Reflections as the theme for this challenge.

 • Players have eight weeks to submit their design (i.e., until December 11).  Please submit your entries by uploading them to an image service such as Photobucket, and then inlining them into a reply to the challenge theme post (use ).  Also, post your idea for the next month's theme with your entry, so we can keep everything on schedule.

 • Multiple entries are permitted, but please mark one "preferred" entry, in case there are many entrants and the list gets too unwieldy.

 • Voting will take place between the end of the challenge and the beginning of the next round.  All interested members are encouraged to vote for their favorites.  The winner and new theme will be announced on the first day of the next round.

 • Please review the Avatar Guidelines and be sure your entry meets them.  Also, please do not use copyrighted images when making your entry, unless you have permission from the copyright holder.

 • By participating in the challenge, you are giving other members permission to use your entry as their avatar.  Please don't enter avatars that you don't want others to use.  Exception: you may enter your own personal avatar if it was made new for the contest.

I just finished zipping up the entries for challenges 2 and 3, and there were a few which were over the 8K size limit for avatars.  I compressed them to fit, but please pay attention to file sizes!  I don't think that you can really see a difference from the compression, but I'm sure everyone would rather have total control over their entries. Wink  If you need help getting them down to size, there are several people on TC that can assist.

Everyone has been doing so great with their entries. I should have time to do at lest one this time around. I can hope. Smiley

Congrats!

Here's my submission:

And my idea for next contest's theme: Love

I made avatars for the other theme's as well since I didn't know the winner when I made them...

Hibernation/Gestation

Myths and Legends (This is just the rough form...)

You can put them up as avatars if you'd like...

Just bumping this up so it is readily available and so it reminds me to work on my entry.

So, I barely visited TC at all last month, and didn't post a thing, including in here.  Do we declare challenge #4 over?  Embarrassed

If there are enough entries, we can have a vote.

Well, only Aionia entered, so that would make her the automatic winner. Smiley

I don't want to win like that. Let's just call this one null and void.

Ok by me. Smiley

Someone, I think it might have been Mandi, had the idea of everyone using the same source picture for one cycle, instead of a theme.  What do you think about picking one out for that?  You always have great images in your work.

Sure thing.

I picked out a Nebula. Because it could be a background for tons of different themes.

Here it is.

Sorry, about the broadness of the photo, but I figured the whole purpose of having a set image was allowing people to go their own ways with it.

Oh, that's beautiful! Should we use the whole picture or can we crop it down?
