An opinion poll commissioned by the BBC and other major media groups has provided a revealing insight into the everyday lives, hopes and fears of people living in Iraq...

Some of the more shocking statistics include the electricity, and clean water supplies... or the lack thereof more accurately.

The article

The poll (For those who wish to skip the preamble, although it is 22 pages long, worth it though.)

Pardon the out of Iraq thread-ness... It didn't seem to fit there either, since it's not really about what we're doing in Iraq, so much as a supposed response.

Surprise, surprise.  The Iraqi's wan't the same basics is life that we do!  Why can't Bush and co understand that?  If we had managed to make the country safe with food and water and electricity available, maybe they would be happy with us!

Had we gone in with a real plan to liberate the country and rebuild it (instead of occupying it) this might have worked. But the Administration had no such plan and so did a bunch of really idiotic things like disband the entire Iraqi army, hire foreigners to do projects instead of putting Iraqis to work, etc.

That's what I'm thinkin.  We haven't really done anything different than Saddam.  We've taken over a country that we are now trying to figure out how to use to our best advantage, with no real consideration of the lives of the people who live there.

They traded one dictator for another.  Sad

What the Iraqis want really doesn't matter at this point.
