Some others that i like are

Starhawk, deborah lipp and Ed fitch.

I really like Deborah Lipp, especially The Way of FourThe Elements of Ritual is also good, but I don't agree with everything she says.

...like never use glass dishes in ritual cause they're too modern?

Personally, I got nothing out of that book besides a few good tips for cleaning up spilled candle wax an other similar "practical" bits.

Or terracotta.

Of course, the antidote to this kind of super right-on thinking is to read Christopher Penczak's "City Magick" where he describes TV scrying and how to make your TV an altar. And also how to make a really cool office altar, which I did in my last office.

Actually, I had a chance to ask her about it at one point, pointing out that the use of glass is thousands of years old, and she admitted that it was a bit of bad research on her part.

It still left me baffled. (Oh, and I *love* stuff made of glass. I have a glass pentacle though I never wear it anymore and the dishes and various things on my altar are largely made of glass. Then again, I'm not Wiccanso it's ok :-P )

Everything on my altar with the exception of my ritual knife and wand are glass (minus the candles and elemental bits, obviously Wink).

I just got a Magick book for my birthday. It's "The Complete Book of Spells, Ceremonies, and Magic" by Migene Gonzalez-Wippler, and I was wondering if she too is just fluff?

And for every newbie too, who else should we avoid pertaining to books/online resources/stores?

Any good books etc, etc, etc? About any subject of Paganism?

I was just wondering...  Grin

Aside from those already mentioned, I highly recommend against Raven Grimassi, Douglas Monroe. Patricia Telesco is one to take with a hefty dose of sodium chloride.

I recommend: Judy Harrow (Devoted To you: Honoring Deity In Wiccan Practice is a great book...and slightly misleadingly titled, it's not a Wicca-specific book, the information it contains can be useful to anyone looking for in-depth information on developing closer relationships with their deity/s, and two of the four parts of the book (it consists mostly of four extended essays) are written by non-Wiccans- a Hellenic reconstructionist and a Celtic- Alexei Kondratiev- not sure if he's recon or what?

Isaac Bonewits (if you can get around his strong opinionation and penchant for ridiculous PC talk (People aren't fat, they're differently horizontal! No, seriously. "Differently horizontal" appears in one of his books.)  , which is hard for a lot of people- myself included- to do)

Pfft, what no glass candles? You can't make the glass burn? What kind of pagan are you?

That's it, you're out of the club :-P
