I have heard some of these creatures names, but only by mouth. And I have reason to believe that the guy who talks about them has a split personality... Undecided

And yes, vampyres do exsist. They can either be Albinos (People with white skin, hair and red eyes who, if they go out in the sun, can burn very easily due to the lack of pigment in their skin) or people who have an energy defficiency, like one of the members here mentioned earlier on.

 Huh

You're saying that albinos are vampires because they lack skin pigment ?

Sounds like it.

Interestingly, most of what most people know about vampires was written by modern day fiction writers.

In the folklore of many Eastern Europe peoples, vampires could walk in the sunlight and had a ruddy skin pigmentation.

Interesting.  All I remember is that were supposed to be physically ugly, as opposed to the Lestat's and Carmilla's we're familiar with.  I think even Drac was described as being pretty ugly.  Pretty ugly. Haha.  Cheesy

The way Drac was described as "rat-like" if I'm not mistaken.  Even though he started out as elderly in the beginning of the book and grew younger by drinking blood, he was no Gary Oldman Wink

It's not as uncommon as you might think. And the vampires who simply have an energy deficiency do not have any sort of special powers (they may or may not have more magical ability than "average") they do not have fangs (may have longer canines than usual, may not. But that's pretty common amongst humans, vampire or no). They are not immortal. They don't hang out in dark alleys at night and suck people's blood.

There ARE some people who claim to be real vampires...who claim to be thousands of years old etc....I don't believe a word they say.

My two (well, almost three) year old daughter, has canines like those.  They aren't excessively long, just enough to be different.  She actually seems to like them, I think because already she is developing the "I like being different" attitude.  (Momma's little girl, and Nana's too.)

I think though that I agree with the thought expressed earlier, that I'mnot much of one to believe in "mystical creatures".  Most of the legendary creatures I can actually explain.  And I think I've even heard varying explanations of the humanoid ones as well, although I can't recall what those were.

What you think is possible.  Anything that is possible can become real.  Therefore, reality is a state of mind.

Huh

No, not at all.
What I'm saying is that maybe they provided some inspiration for the Hollywood vampire.
Perhaps I worded it wrongly....
BTW, I have long canines aswell, but I'm not a vampyre, lol.
And yes, I do have proof. Maybe not the proof that you're looking for, but proof that they do exsist.
I have heard a Banshee's scream, and it was not like one that a human makes.
I once thought I saw a Selkie's skin on a beach when I went for a walk one night.
And I'm not the only one. There have been other reports of people seeing the creatures that I mentioned, but most specifically the Banshee. I'm not the only one who has heard her scream, and for as long as there are Irish people, the Banshee will exsist.

Brownies? Sure! Werewolves...well not in this realm, unless you are talking about the Otherkin variety, who do NOT physically change under the light of a full moon. Wink

Vampires: yes, if you mean people with an energy deficiency who require an intake of energy or blood to remain healthy. If you're talking about 5000 year old creatures of the night with super powers, then no.

i personally use the term 'werewolf' for people that i observe under a full moon and watch their personality change completely, just for the duration of the full moon. To me it makes sense Smiley
