Well, there's King Kev, as people have mentioned, but there is also King Arthur, a druid leader of some reknown in Britain.  He has a strong following and shows up at a lot of public rituals with his warband, and is part of PEBBLE, I believe (or the PF - I can't keep British pagan politics straight, in spite of being on a couple of message boards there).

If King Artus = King Arthur it could be him she was talking about.  I don't know if he claims to be a reincarnation or not, or if he was elected as such, but he does call himself King Arthur Pendragon.  People there seem to either love him or hate him, not a whole lot of in between.

Yes, that's the one I read about! The reincarnation thing could be something the author got wrong about him. I'd like to know.

Sounds like what you need is a link to the Loyal Arthurian Warband site..  That should give you the info on what he and his group say about themselves.

My own take on the guy is that he's an odd duck, but serious about what he's doing, and puts his efforts/energy where his mouth is.  By contrast, the main thing "King Kevin" is serious about, as far as I can tell, is getting attention.

Thanks for the info!

After diverse adventures and life experiences, it was in 1986 that he reverted to his once true and former name of Arthur Uther Pendragon. By Beltaine of 1990 he had been hailed as the once and future king, Rex Quondam Rexque Futuris
So it seems he does really think he was the reincarnation of King Artus, huh? A bit strange.

Believe me, he isn't the only Pagan/New Ager to claim to be a reincarnation of someone famous.  I think I've came across ten different Cleopatras in the five years I've been posting on Pagan message boards.

The original question has long been answered but I had to...

I dunno About everyone but the few pagans I've met in the flesh bag start laughing when they hear his name.

*raises hand shamelessly*

I do too - unless I'm complaining about him! My opinion of King Kev is... not high Wink

I know people who say they are

- Cleopatra
- King Arthur
- Morgan Le Fey
- Hatshepsut

I just give a mental chuckle and move on in the conversation.

No it's not, IMO. But this guy was nuts in other regards too. Thinks he's the Elven High King and the "lord and master of time" or some such bullocks.

Plus, I know (of) several people who have claimed/do claim to be Jesus...so...ya know there can only be ONE Jesus right? Shocked

I read three or four books while I was in college along a "Pagan Christ" theme. In fact, one of them was called "Pagan Christs" and discussed similar themes in various cultures worldwide - that were older than the Jesus stories in the Bible.

If Jesus is the 'lord and master of time' he can incarnate in several people at once.  Grin

Has anyone heard of John Perkins? I just read an interview of him published by Hillary Webb in a book about shamanism. He believes he can physically shape shift into an animal or even a chair to play hide and seek with his daughter.

There are wonders in this world...  Cheesy

Has anyone else come across funny/questionable stuff?

Nothing that I remember specifically, but I've come across a lot of "All Wiccans..." or "All Pagans.." remarks. Or rules such as "When doing this, you should at all times do that" and other silly things like that  Cheesy

Has anyone else come across funny/questionable stuff?

I once bought a book about Ancient Egyptian magic that contained almost an entire chapter devoted to a discussion of chakras. This wouldn't be all that bad, I guess, but the author was quite insistent that the Ancient Egyptian people were the first to recognise and work with them. According to her, all the philosophy surrounding psychic energy points came from the Nile valley and was eventually carried East by traders and migrants and the like. Also the Egyptians called them "chakras" before anyone in India did. And of course she had no real evidence for any of these claims; the Egyptian chakra stuff is very secretive and she learned about it from a mysterious Bedouin perfume merchant who loved her like a daughter or something. Right.

I hated this book with the burning heat of a thousand suns; useless doesn't even begin the describe it. It completely soured me on Paganism 101 texts of any flavor. I haven't read one since, but somehow I don't think I'm missing anything.
