Hi !

Well I've finally got round to doing something on my ever growing to do list. I've kept meaning to rejoin the cauldron and I've finally got round to doing it.

I used to post on the old site under the name of ygg but now I'm just plain old Warwick ( my real name ! ).

I post quite a lot on the fantastic Asatrulore board ( gives a big friendly virtual wave from Essex in the UK to Bob ).

I've had a lot happen in my life since I last came here so I'll catch up a bit later.

I'm very sad to hear about Lyricfox. I wish her a speedy recovery and as requested will include her in my prayers.

Nice to be back.

Regards

Warwick

Thanks for the welcome back guys.

Do you still have that thing where you can reply either collectively or individually to posts in a thread ?

If you do, perhaps I might get the hang of it this time  Grin

Best regards

Do you still have that thing where you can reply either collectively or individually to posts in a thread ?

It's not as simple as it was on the old board, or as automatic, so we've had to replace it with a rule requiring quoting and a change in the 'reply' button on posts that automatically quotes the given post.  Then you get to trim out the parts that aren't relevant to your reply.

If you use the Quick Reply feature, and I think you probably did since no quote appeared, it is still best to hit quote on the post you are replying to.  It will put the quote in the quick reply box and you can trim it there as well.

It's a little more confusing than on the old board, but it is the only way to get the linkbacks that allow us to trace back the conversation if needed (difficult in a long thread) and help people reading at longer intervals to refresh their memories when they come back to a thread after some time has passed.

It's actually harder not to quote than it is to quote.  It's covered in some detail in the rules.  Since a few things have changed since Beehive it might be a good idea to go over them again anyway.

Welcome back,

Marilyn

Perfect!  The quote tags are intact, so the linkback works, and you trimmed the quote very well.

I think you got the hang of it just fine. Cheesy

Grin Yes but hopefully not quite like the office xmas party I was at the other day involving musical chairs, champion garlic bread tossing, the real Postman Pat, too much cider and some idiot wearing comedy viking horns and antlers ...ahem
