Disc 4 > Seasonal Forests > Diaries > Cheesy

Hard to explain - the stalwart English videographer and the happy-go-lucky French baloonist.  They got what they were after in the end, but oh, getting there! Cheesy

I like the little ducks that jumped out of their nest in the tree for the first time, and fell a long, long, way, and then bounced off the ground!  Then they scurried off to the water.  Forget which episode.

They are all quite amazing.

I think that's in the same episode - Seasonal Forests.

Who would have thought ducks would nest in trees?

I love, love, love this series. Even on my teeny little 12-inch crappy TV, it's the most beautiful picture I've ever seen.

One of my faourite shots is the extreme slow-motion shot of the great white shark jumping out of the water. Terrifying, and amazing.

I got the series for my boyfriend for Yule!!! Cheesy But, of course... he's started re-watching them all without me. grrr.

The first thing that comes to mind is when the snow leopard goes on the hunt in the Mountains episode. So intense! (The great white shark is great too, but mostly just terrifies me!)

I also love when they mention (I think in the Seasonal Forests one, although it might be Pole to Pole?) about the tree that is the oldest living thing on earth. Something like 2000 or 2500 years old? Incredible.

The extreme slow motion shots of the crocodiles hunting wildebeest are fantastic too. They couldn't have choreographed that better if they tried!

And finally, I kind of like the virus/parasite/fungus/mold? thing that attacks bug populations in the Rainforest episode. I think because I hate bugs and anything that attacks them and then makes crazy crystal things with their corpses is ok by me. lol.

I LOVE PLANET EARTH!!!! weeee......!

Seasonal Forests.  The bristlecone pines are nearly 5,000 years old!

Ditto that.

I would also add that the footage of Angel Falls was one of the more beautiful things I've never seen.

That's amazing.  I also enjoyed the fact about how much oxygen the coniferous forests South of the North Pole produce.  And how the Great Barrier Reef causes the skies to cloud over and rain when it gets too warm.  It really makes you think about how different ecosystems and lifeforms are connected.

All of disc five.  The comments about the ethics of big-game hunting was of special interest, as well as those on sustainable development.  But personally I'm a fan of negative human population growth, and they barely touched on that.
