What do you use your wand for?

Well, I'm not gong to be much help but I am interested in seeing the replies. Quite a while back I thought I should have a wand. I went out, found a lovely river willow tree that had even dropped the perfect branch to the ground. I took it home, carved it into spirals, sanded, wrapped it in beautiful copper wire and added a perfect crystal to each end. Then I consecrated it and.... never used it. I'm just an athame kind of witch,  I realized I had it on my altar because a book said I should, more than I ever felt a need for one.  So I trusted myself on that and just let it go. I think I found the poor thing stuck behind a bookcase when we moved, I gave it away at a faire.

However, I have known two witches who would not be without their wands, yet have little use for an athame. It is an interesting question.
