My Dianic group is going to be making wands next month. We are hiking out into the woods to find the right tree, cutting the branch, and then going back to make our wands.
What do you use your wand for?
Reading everyone's thoughts here...and there seems to be a lot of negative response to this idea. I am inclined to agree, I don't think it is a good idea to just cut a branch off a tree for no
real reason. I would understand if you actually wanted to make a wand, but it doesn't seem like you really want it, that you are going along with the group. I think that you would be better off planting trees or volunteering in a "Save the Trees" sort of activity. I think you could have a better relationship with trees as you spend time with the tree itself--communicating and really seeing how the tree grows. When it is fully mature, maybe you could make your wand then (that is if you want and you take proper care of the tree). Besides, the earth can always use more trees

And for me personally, I don't know what to do with a wand either, I feel much more comfortable with a blade. I don't think of it in terms of "power over", but in terms of simple "power". I use an athame (or dagger), so that in my mind I hear "This is serious business". It's a just a mindset. I don't see it as commanding, although it does appear that way, doesn't it
I suppose I would use a wand to feel like Harry Potter?
