Oh, yes.  She likes blue.  Ask Purplewitch if you don't believe me.

I wear a lot of blue for Her.

Funny story:

Two colors I've never been a huge fan of for most of my life = blue and pink.

Once my grandmother passed away, I started sewing pink victorian costumes.  Totally out of character for me, but I felt compelled.

Once I started even just thinking about Brighid, my signature color for costuming became blue.  Which is double odd because I always thought it would have been purple-my favorite color.  Nope.  Blue.

But in reality it makes sense because Brighid and my grandmother are the two ladies always watching out for me.  haha.

What symbols do you guys use to represent Brighid? The flame and Brighid's Cross are fairly obvious, but what of others?

I'm asking, actually, because I have plans (if all works out) for re-working a cabinet I have into a shrine for Her. I want to paint a large Brighid's cross on the front, with other Celtic symbols around it (now if only I can get what's in my head onto paper and, paint).

I don't really work with any other deities except my Norse Gods - but I have always had an interest for all deities and have read a lot about them, gotten to know them and etc, and one of the main things I think of when I think of Brighid is Brighid's Cross, but you already have that... I also think about fire, spring (so maybe something that represents spring?), the sun, a cauldron... And more things such as herbs, natural things, trees, etc.

I don't really know Brighid that much, but those are the things I think of. But I think that if you are in a personal relationship with Brighid, which you most likely are if you are about to construct a shrine in her Name, I think you should first and foremost go with inner feeling and instinct. I hope your shrine works out and it will probably be beautiful!

[Thread revival!]

I want to share with you all a new pendant I had made for Brighid:  http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u115/moonivy53/BrighidPendant.jpg

I commissioned it from an Etsy artist:  http://www.etsy.com/shop/LinneaSilver.  It was great to work with her on this piece.  I described what I wanted and sent a little sketch, and she took it from there.  It's a little bigger than an American quarter.

I've also discovered another Etsy artist who is a Brighid dedicant, as well:  http://www.etsy.com/shop/BrighidsForge.  Although she doesn't currently have any Brighid's crosses posted, she is working on some new techniques to use for them.  She also does custom work, and I'm planning to commission a bracelet from her inscribed with:

Light me as Your lantern.
Play me as Your harp.
Keep me in Your mantle.
Guide me to Your hearth.

It's very cool to find an artist who can do that and also understand what it means to me.   Cheesy

Anyway, it's "blizzarding" here in the Washington, DC, metro area, and we're stuck inside, so I thought I'd share with you all.

That is really moving; do you mind if I borrow it?

Good luck with the snow! I heard you might get up to two feet?

Of course you can use it!  That's why I posted it.   Wink

Yep, we have about 2 feet.  This is the most snow the DC area has had in recent memory -- like, since I was a child.  It's really gorgeous!  The only problem is that my husband works for a theater, and they actually had a matinee today and are planning to have both shows tomorrow.  I think they're insane.
