Since there's quite a bit of interest in discussing crafts, would you be interested in a thread dedicated to craft pattern exchanges? I'd have to work out the details on how to do it, but if folks would like some place specific to post patterns they have that need new homes or perhaps a place to ask a question about a specific project, I think we could set something up.

I've got this poll running for a week, so be sure and vote. And if you have comments or ideas, feel free to toss them in here. I won't tackle this until next week, so it should give everyone some time to vote and comment. Smiley

This is the original thread that prompted this idea. http://www.ecauldron.net/forum/index.php?topic=4324.msg74294#msg74294

I voted no because I wouldn't personally use such a thread, but I don't think that should stop y'all.  Smiley  Unless someone comes up with a reason why this would be, like, devestating to the forum or something, I think you should go ahead with it if you feel like there are enough "yes" votes regardless of how many "no" votes there are.  (Since I suspect most "no" votes will be from people like me who just don't have a personal use for it, but aren't actually against the idea.)

Yeah. I suspect there will be a bunch of people like you. No problem. I'm mainly just wanting to gauge a bit of the interest here. If it looks like it would be useful, that's great. If not, well, not all my ideas work as originally planned. *g*

Voted no.  Like Star, I'm not against the idea, just not interested in using it myself.

When I do actually use a craft pattern of any sort (which is fairly rare), 99% of the time it's one I've created myself for a product that I'm planning to sell.  So, I wouldn't be of any real use in a pattern exchange.

I voted yes, but I'd like to amend my answer a bit--I'd like such a thread to be for more than just "patterns"--specific craft how-tos are even more useful to me than patterns.  I'd like to see stuff similar to Nile Lily's plastic bag fusion technique shared.

Maybe some soft of separate "craft enablers" thread would make more sense, though...

I think we probably need a whole folder, not just a thread

Absolutely. I thought of that when I saw that post. I know this is going to have to include more than patterns, so folks chiming in with what they'd like to see is really helpful.

Agreed.  Patterns would be nice, but craft ideas and techniques would also be appreciated.

You mean like a "Crafts and Hobbies" folder?  *points at the folder we're in*

I'd vote "Other" if it was there:  I don't care at present, but wouldn't rule out future interest.

I honestly don't know, but I'm not sure that's the best way to do it. I want to wait until next week, though, and have some time to think about it and talk to Randall.

I'm with Sunflower on this...I'd vote other. I'm not real interested in it right now but that might change some place down the road.

Didn't get a chance to vote, but I love exchanging free patterns. Perhaps we could start a few sticky threads as needed for types of patterns?
