What do you think about Silver Ravenwolf´s books?

Well, I read her books Teen Wicca and To Ride a Silver Broomstick and I found them both waaaayyy too fluffy for me. In fact, it's partially due to these books that I stopped studying Wicca for a long time. (Thank goodness I found Scott Cunningham's books. I highly reccomend them if you are trying to learn about Wicca.) I think that she mostly concerned about making money and selling books. My friend calls her "Silver Cash Register" Also, her condesending attitude makes it very difficult to read. Apparantly you don't know as much as she does, and if you disagree with her at all you are a "bad wiccan" or "aren't a wiccan at all" Don't waste your time or money on her books.

I remember her reaction to criticism of Teen Witch/Teen Witch Kit when they first came out. People who had problems with the books just didn't care enough about children/teens.  Roll Eyes

Exactly, you have *a* Nixie or *many* Nyx; I must admit I haven't heard many others use it in this context (a few locals only, so maybe it is a regional colloquialism) , but most people get my drift.

Edited to Add: Just remembered that a Nix or Nixe is the germanic version so perhaps that is where it came from?

That must be my "thing to learn" for today. I'd never heard it, as I said--but it made a sort of sense to me. The plural I learned was "nixies." Thanks for the information.

And only "Mama Silver" cares about the teens, because their parents don't want them being rude and obnoxious because book suppliers choose not to have her rags on the shelf.

I love Silver Ravenwolf's books. Since I have been using To Stir A Magick Cauldron as a temp balance for a chair; it hasn't wobbled since.

I almost spat out my coffee reading that!  Now I will have to get all her books out my libary since that you have found the greatest use for them. Cheesy

I also just found an open letter from $ilver in responce to criticisims on her teen witch kit.  Interestingly fun read.  She doesnt come across sanctimonious, patronising or childish at all. Wink http://www.spiritualitea.com/books/teenwitch.shtml

I honestly want to give the woman a slap until she sees sense. Would take a while of slappage though *sighs*.

Hmm, I didn't made it through the whole thing and I might got it wrong, but is she speaking of and for 'the' community and 'the' religion? She sure as hell has no lack of self-confidence  Cheesy

Yep basically she is the person who is most in touch with Spirit, any one who disagrees with her is a nasty human being who don't want teens to "progress spiritually."  In conclusion $ilver is the good, pious, pagan pope. Any one ewho disagrees is a bully working for the christian fundamentalists.

For some reason, Silver's conversations with "Spirit" remind me of the conversations Sylvia Browne has with her spirit guide "Francine."

They're worth pretty much the same thing, in my book.

Nah. Modern "evolution" seems to have actually enhanced it.

Damn. Well since I can't live with out malls and supermarkets maybe we should adapt them.  All food/clothing etc in shops are booby trapped.  The only way to live is to solve puzzles.  I think the film Saw has warped me. Tongue
