My understanding of Andrews is that he is reasonably knowledgeable about neo-shamanism
I like his animal-guide stuff. It gives you a lot of ideas and things to try out. What makes me a bit uneasy about him is that he harmonizes different views on subjects from various cultures or just states something matter-of-factly without explaining.

For example when he states in Animal Speak that animal blood would disturb the human aura. I can see how practices related to african nature religions can be disgusting for an animal lover, but then why doesn't he say that straight away instead of claiming better knowledge than other traditions without explanation or proof?

Basically, I love reading his stuff (and yeah, he can write), but I don't trust him fully. I'm a sceptic.

Maybe I should specify what I'm looking for exactly. I can't see colors or clearly shaped auras. I just see something that looks like hot air, steam or mist, sometimes also a faint shimmering or sparkling light. So I'd like to have a beginner's book that would help me to understand my perception and make it better, because I can't really controll it and it is a bit disturbing to suddenly see something strange around a person or thing and than have it vanish when you want to examine it closely.

I'm also interested in strenghtening your aura stuff, but I'd firstly like to understand what my eyes are doing to me.  Huh
