That's what I had found as well whenever I looked. But with some of the other tales I've heard recently (regretably, second-hand tales, so I have the whole "friend of a friend who this stuff happened to" situation to hear from) of other problems, especially for discrimination against members with disabilities. Also, has anyone heard why they decided to lock the interfaith board on the HON forum? It's all strictly moderated now for some reason....

See, most of what I have heard (negatively) about HoN has been "friend of a friend" type stuff as well.  I wish I knew first-hand what actually happened behind the scenes.  I have a knee-jerk reaction against religious hierarchy, mostly because I had an unhealthy experience with Catholicism as a child.  I got yelled at a lot if my opinion differed from my father's.  I don't want to make a snap judgement about HoN just because I've got baggage.

I've met one HoN member in person.  She seemed really down to earth.  She had what was, IMO, a healthy amount of skepticism about the whole Nisut thing.  She didn't rush into it or immediately assume that Suida was right about everything.  I don't see myself ever joining HoN, but I've met at least one member who I respect.  That doesn't necessarily say anything about the organization as a whole, but it does make me hesitate before assuming they're a big scary cult.

And yet, it seems like there is reason to believe that there might be some "abusive" behavior within HoN.  As I've said, I've had a very unhealthy experience with religious authority figures.  It seems like it's a strong possibility that some people in HoN have an experience with religious authority figures that makes them feel just as small as I was made to feel. The fact that this might be happening in the name of the Netjeru makes me feel quite ill.

Like I said, I really wish I knew first hand what was going on.  But that would require me to join, and that's not happening Smiley

I just ordered the first 3 from amazon. Thank you, Darkhawk!
These books were excellent, and I'm re-reading them. Thank you once again.
