I think that was "cute" as in "physically attractive".  Wink  Although I could be wrong.

I wouldn't mind him being a platonic friend of mine, but he would have to lay off with the vegetarian insults when around me. lol

I'm curious to know what his wife looks like; I don't know if she has ever been in the spotlight.

His first wife, Nancy, got mentions here and there in his writing, I think, and IIRC showed up in the background one episode of No Reservations (a very early one, if so) or an episode of A Cook's Tour, but she seems to have stayed pretty well out of the spotlight.  I know nothing about his current wife except that they have a daughter together.  (If you can imagine that.  I've heard he even gave up smoking for the baby's sake.)  I don't think she's been much in the spotlight either, though.

Rachael I'm totally with you on.  Giada used to annoy the hell out of me, but she's grown on me (other than, as someone else mentioned, her tendancy to over-pronounce Italian words--OK, you were born in Italy, I get it).  Emeril I think was interesting in the beginning, but I'm finding him overdone now (though I do still use some of his recipes).  Bobby Flay has always struck me as rather arrogant, and I've never really liked him.  Paula Deen is just kind of a little too over-the-top down-home-Southern for my tastes.

Sandra Lee is my #1 FoodTV (and probably any-TV) irritation, though.  I hate what she does to food.  She does exactly the opposite of what I want from a cooking show; she makes me not want to bother, rather than inspiring me.

So much hatin' on the foodies.  Cheesy  Rachel is too perky for me, but I do like her recipes (cheap college student friendly, most of the time), and I loathe Bobby Flay with a completely irrational hatred. I can't explain it--I think it's mostly that he comes off as a real jerk, even when smiling onscreen. Anthony Bourdain reminds me of House--I like him a lot, but not nearly as much as House. But that's because no one is as awesome as House.  Grin

As for the other foodies though, I actually really love Paula Deen and Giada. I think they're adorable, and so is Mario Batali.

But my very favourite is Alton Brown. Just enough snarkiness and far too much geekery.  Wink

It's hard for me to think of other TV people, since I don't watch reality shows except for Discovery and the Food Network. I think Tyra is pretty hilarious, and I think Tim Gunn of Project Runway is simply amazing.

2. Donald Trump.  Sure he owns a significant chunk of Manhattan and Atlantic City.  But that's no excuse for him to act as though he is God.  His arrogance is just off putting.  And while I'm at it...

He's gotta be my #1. Dude, calling yourself "The Donald" does NOT make you appear rich and powerful. It makes you appear as if you are seriously incompetent in the English language. Plus it's arrogant and annoying.

After I made my list I said to myself, "You forgot Tyra!"  So Tyra Banks with all of her egotistical bs is in my #11 spot.

I'm glad you've added her to your list. She comes across as one of those people who feel the need to think that they are an expert on everything.

Tim Gunn is cool. I LOVE The show Project Runway. I like any show about artists creating things.

Tyra is OK but acts too much like Oprah at times (I think Oprah is way overrated).

I agree with Oprah.  She is my number twelve for popularizing the term "va-jay-jay."  Sure Gray's Anatomy was the one that came up with it, but O sank her talons in it and never let it go.

This thread idea was inspired by watching one too many commercials featuring Billy Mays (of OxiClean fame).  So my question to you is who is in your top five or ten list of the TV personalities that you love to hate?

survivorman. My least favorite Canadian of all time.

I have no idea how I managed to miss this, but I did.  I'll second that nomination.  I don't know if the man is simply incapable of speaking without screaming, or if he thinks shouting his advertising pitches will beat his message into viewers' skulls and make them buy, or what, but he's supremely annoying.

The reasons you listed are exactly why I can't stand him.  I don't buy the crap he sells out of principle.

What I don't understand is when you see the stuff in the drugstore, the packages have a big picture of him captioned, "AS SEEN ON TV WITH BILLY MAYS," like it's a celebrity endorsement or something.  How, exactly, does an endorsement by a guy who sells detergent on late-night TV sell anything??  Huh

I couldn't find your age in your profile, but if 'your day' was anywhere near 'my day', may I mention  Erica Uhm and Jeanie Pecker?

Although at least Erica Uhm was entertaining - "And now lets see this video from The Breakfast Track Sound Club'.

Cheesy That's a little before my day. My Much days were in the mid1990s. Oh, Bill Wylesjka. (sp?Huh??) *dreamy sigh*
