Gee, I'm shocked you'd rather close the cauldron. It's dangerous to cook with closed lids while playing games. Who cleans up all the overcooked mess afterwards?

Have you been to my house at gaming nights or something?Huh? Cheesy

I particularly love the vaguely facist tone to the order.  They seem to think they're not just the spokesperson of the 'Pagan community', but also the supreme commander.

I never was any good at going "sieg heil" on command.  Oh well.

So I shouldn't tell them I'm writing both my own religion AND a gaming system, huh? Cheesy

I am now tempted to write a Pagan-BASED game system. "I'd like to roll a skill check for Craft (Candle Magic)." Grin

I'd be so tempted to run something like that.  Of course, with me running it, it'd be: 'aha, you rolled success on candle magic.  Of course, it still doesn't do anything'.

Magic wise in games, although I want to run Ars Magica for the medieval epic-legen atmosphere, I love Unknown Armies for it's very wierd (and somehow believable) post-modern magic.  The only game I know of where you can gain power by playing Russian Roulette or mimicing bad porn. Smiley

We get stuff like this maybe once every three or four years. Well, Randall probably sees it more often, but it's just not something we lose sleep over. That's part of why it's so funny. Anyone who spends any time on TC should see pretty quickly that Randall and I just don't care what most people think about crap like this. It's just not worth our time.

That'll cause a lot of traffic jams.

There are a number of RPGs that have been set in the pre-Christian world and hence incorporate Pagan religions.

There have been a number of Christian RPGs -- RPGs designed by (usually fundie) Christians specifically to incorporate Christian ideas and morality:

Here are a few that have web sites that I can find quickly:

Holy Lands: The Christian RPG
DragonRaid
Spiritual Warfare

I just got ANOTHER one in email. Probably from the same person since proper names aren't capitalized in either message:

Quote
As webmaster of a major pagan web site you have a responsibility to the gods to represent them properly to a public who would love to burn us all. You have started a new site on dungeons and dragons and other roleplaying "games." To the public, these "games" are associated with satanism and demonology at worst and with uncontrolled imagination at best. As the webmaster of a major pagan web site you have a responsibility to the the pagan community. You cannot associate with anything that could make the public think we are satanists or are simply playing at worshiping our gods like people playing dungeons and dragons "games" do. In the name of the entire pagan community, I demand you immediately shut down retroroleplaying.com and apologize to the pagan community for the damage you have done to the acceptance of our religion. What possessed you to set up such a site anyway? You aren't a clueless newbie, but you need to buy a clue.

Seesh.
