'All you need is your own will' completely skips the matter of what 'will' is, how to use it, and how strong it has to be to work. It's the difference between singing in the shower or around the fire and filling a concert hall. It takes work.

I completely agree. It does take a lot of work and some have real trouble with meditation, focus and visualization and can never really do it.
I was saying though, that the books on "what you need" are not really useful. Candles, herbs, cups, ect are pretty useless unless you know how to focus or how energy works and flows... like you have stated.
but I'm a bit short on the type with practical exercises for meditation and visualisation.
